Activities at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

Activities here at Iddenshall Hall are an integral part of every day life for each of our residents. We strive to include as many of our residents as possible with the activities schedule. Our Schedule is released monthly and includes activities such as poetry afternoons, indoor games, Bingo, flower arranging, pamper days, quizzes, exercises, various musicians and entertainers, Pat Dog Visits, Music Therapy, discussion groups and trips out in our minibus to local places of interest and further afield to see the Blackpool Lights or to Knowsley Safari Park.

We are constantly asking the people who live in our home which events they would like to see taking place and we endeavor to fulfill these requests. Our aim is to provide a varied and packed schedule which allows for a vast array of skill bases and capabilities. We are in constant contact with local groups and businesses, the local Beaver Scout group are always happy to pay a visit to our home, helping with the garden or coming at Christmas to sing carols for us. We also have a small group of volunteers to help us, including pupils from our local 6th form College who visit once a week.

All the above helps ensure the lives of our Residents are fun and fulfilled.

Life at Iddenshall Hall Care Home

,

Ladies' Wimbledon Final

We celebrated the Ladies' Wimbledon Final by enjoying strawberries and cream along with a glass of Prosecco.

Residents were engrossed in the tennis, but managed to draw themselves away to share a tipple and enjoy the juicy strawberries. Some residents even indulged in second and third helpings whilst watching the match.

Picnic lunch at Iddenshall

Picnic lunch at Iddenshall

We arranged a picnic lunch for all the residents at Iddenshall Hall this week, however the good old British Weather let us down so we ended up having an indoor picnic buffet in our Lounge and Conservatory instead. A majority of the residents came to the Lounge to enjoy the food. We played music to sing and dance to and served Pimms and Lemonade as a tipple. It was lovely to see all the residents interacting in the communal areas together and it was a lovely chance for all the staff to be included too.

Flower arranging at Iddenshall

Iddenshall Hall residents enjoyed creating some colourful displays with flowers again this week. We used cups and saucers, vases, bowls and jugs and filled them with a variety of blooms. The flowers were then put around the home to cheer up every corner.

Cake creations at Iddenshall

Cake creations at Iddenshall

We had a session of Cake Creations at Iddenshall Hall recently. We decorated cupcakes with icing that we made ourselves and then created a flower bouquet with the cupcakes. It was very effective and the Residents enjoyed themselves.

Flower Arranging

We have had a lovely afternoon flower arranging at Iddenshall Hall. Residents helped collect greenery from our gardens to go with the beautiful flowers.

They were able to show off their creative skills with various designs. We filled stacked teacups and saucers, vases, jugs and bowls with spring blooms and used them to decorate the home so everyone could enjoy the creations.

It was a lovely social afternoon with plenty of chat and laughing. Everyone gets the benefit of their hard work for the next week or so, as long as we remember to water them!

Cleaning in the Sunshine

Cleaning in the Sunshine

We decided to give our minibus a good clean this week in the spring sunshine, so we asked resident, John, if he would like to help us. He jumped at the chance and did a great job; the bus was gleaming afterwards. John took a great deal of pride in his work and it was lovely to see him so focused on the job at hand whilst enjoying the sunshine.
