Activities at Iris Court Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators will bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Hello, I'm Natalie, and for nearly five enriching years, I've dedicated myself to the role of an activity coordinator. Whether someone wants to participate minimally or fully immerse themselves, my goal remains constant: fostering a sense of community and joy in every moment.

Residents and Staff Took the Iris Court Mini Bus down to visit Asda in Hitchin to grab some essentials for this easter weekend!.

With many residents discussing their favourite sweet treat over easter, and what there easter traditions previously were with their families

Residents loved being able to go out and do some shopping as they would before life at Iris Court, being able to browse the different items and return with some of their favourite items and treats for their families visiting this weekend.

Iris Courts Carers Cafe

Iris Court had a fantastic time this morning holding our monthly Carers Café. With the carers café being open for all community, residents and family it has quickly become one of our favourite ways to spend a Thursday morning.

This morning we welcome in Hertfordshire Independent Living Services, who kindly spoke to us and informed us of all services they offer in the community and how they can support our loved ones at home, whilst bringing in some delicious puddings to try along with a lovely coffee.

New friends of Iris Court Herts Help & Dementia UK also had been in attendance spending the morning talking to our residents and families building friendships and offering any support that may be required.

Our residents loved the morning, hearing from new people in the community and trailing new experiences.

At Iris Court we love hosting events that we can open up to our relatives, friends and the wider community. Life at Iris Court is about being part of the local community and enjoying life long hobbies whilst also exploring new experiences.

Virtucate Virtual Reality Experience At Iris Court

Virtucate visited us at Iris Court this Afternoon for us to experience their immersive virtual Journey with this new technology.

The team at Virtucate took us through a journey all over the world, with scenes from the titanic, to the deep sea, views under the northern stars , to then a safari tour where you could see any animal you wished for up close.

VR experiences help boost mental health, boost wellbeing, a sense of adventure taking you to a whole new world and provide entertainment and stimulation.

Our residents at Iris Court couldn't believe how close it felt to be next to the animals, and reminisce during the tour of the world of some of their favourite holiday destinations!

Iris Courts Gardening Club

Iris Courts Gardening Club is begging to become into a full bloom, with more and more residents falling in love with by watching the progress of our hard work blossom.

With an amazing donation of all planting tools & seeds to grow fruit and veg at the Iris Court Gardens via Ground Work East and their Home Grown Initiative which is designed to bring groups together to build social connections, learn valuable life skills, to boost wellbeing and of course learn about how we can be better connected to nature, whilst learn more about the big issues affecting our environment locally and globally together!.

Following this amazingly kind donation, some of our gardening club members took a swift visit to local Vanstones gardening centre, to stock up on essentials for our garden and their own gardening space with a popular choice of tomatoes, fuchsias and geraniums being purchased to decorate our wonderful gardens!.
