Activities at Iris Court Care Home
Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators will bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Natalie Robinson
Hello, I'm Natalie, and for nearly five enriching years, I've dedicated myself to the role of an activity coordinator. My passion lies in understanding the unique interests of each individual under our care. At Iris Court, I strive to craft activities tailored to the preferences of our residents, ensuring no one ever feels socially isolated. Whether someone wants to participate minimally or fully immerse themselves, my goal remains constant: fostering a sense of community and joy in every moment.
Join me as we embark on this journey of connection, laughter, and shared experiences. Together, let's create cherished memories that will illuminate the path ahead. Welcome to Iris Court, where every day holds the promise of something special.

Life at Iris Court Care Home

Chinese New Year Celebraations
Staff and residents at Iris Court welcomed in the Year of the Snake with a day of celebrations and activities.
Inspired by Chinese culture and traditions, lucky red envelopes were exchanged and the home was decorated with hanging red lanterns. Residents learnt all about the traditions and superstitions of Chinese New Year. Head chef Jinesh cooked up an oriental feast for lunch and residents enjoyed the delicious food washed down with pots of Chinese tea.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the day with many saying: “I loved the music, the vibrant costumes and learning about the Chinese Zodiac animal traits. We found out that the Snake is the sixth animal in the 12 year cycle of the Chinese zodiac and is associated with wisdom, knowledge, intuition, creativity and good luck. I find it fascinating to learn all about different traditions.”
Our varied life enrichment programme at Iris Court keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

Hitchin Museum Visit
Iris Court Visited Hitchin Museum, where plenty of fun was had.
For our residents being able to get out in the community and enjoy various locations and trips out is of huge importance to them and us and being able to continue to do the things we love and keeping our own identity!. Hitchin Museum was a specially interesting and reminiscent location for our residents at Iris Court. Hitchin Museum boats of its heritage and culture , showcasing items from museums that no longer stand in the area, and items of history from those who lived and worked many years ago in the area reminding us of our elder family members and reminiscing on the past growing up with these memories!.
Regular trips to local attractions, areas of natural beauty and other excursions are important parts of our life enrichment program and feature often on our resident-led activity planners.
