Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Our residents got a true taste of Romania at our recent World Cruise event. Some of our Romanian staff played a special role in ensuring the day was as authentic as it gets, sparking conversations and sharing insights about the culture, language, and beauty of Romania. Our chefs outdid themselves by perfectly curating a tasting menu featuring sarmale, mici, cauliflower croquettes with tomato and basil sauce, and honey ginger sauce. Afterwards, everyone sat in the garden, enjoying wine and listening to Romanian music, while residents shared their tales of travelling to this beautiful country

Where do you think we should travel to next?

We Celebrated British Sandwich Week with Flavours and Wartime Stories

This week we celebrated British Sandwich Week - an ode to the humble sandwich in all its glory! Our residents enjoyed a delightful array of traditional British sandwich flavours in a room adorned with British dΓ©cor. We listened to wartime music, shared stories about the war, the coronation, and cherished moments from British history. Conversations about rationing, and appreciation for the sandwiches we have now made the day truly special. Sometimes, it's the simplest things that mean the most.

200 Years of Cadbury Memories

We had a blast at our live virtual event, "200 Years of Cadbury Memories," where we delved into the rich history and cherished memories of the iconic chocolate giant, Cadbury!

Our residents were treated to a nostalgic trip down memory lane as we showcased chocolate bars with wrappers spanning all the years of Cadbury's history. We also had our knowledge put to the test with a lively quiz, and of course no Cadbury celebration would be complete without indulging in some delicious chocolate delights!

We're thrilled to say that the event was a smashing success, with laughter, fun, and of course, plenty of chocolate to go around! Here's to many more sweet memories to come!

Acknowledging Kenwyn's Heroes

Not all Heroes wear capes, but all Heroes deserve Heroes!

International Nurses Day is celebrated each year on May 12th in recognition of Florence Nightingale's Birthday.

At Kenwyn we are extremely fortunate to have fantastic nurses who own a huge skill set. Nobody will deny that being a nurse comes with huge responsibility and this week we gathered a handful of nurses for a little light-heartedness.

With gifts of Heroes and Fizz, Kenwyn’s nurses from Left to right: Adelina, Ella, Stacey, Gemma, Natasha and Diana enjoyed the moment before they were back with their residents.

We would like share our thanks to ALL of Kenwyn’s nurses who aren’t pictured and assure them that their gifts await them too!

We want to extend our thanks to all nurses around the world for the dedication you show.
