Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities Galore at Kenwyn's Memory Lane Community Table
Here at Kenwyn, enhancing our residents' quality of life is a top priority. That's why the community table in Memory Lane is always busy with games, jigsaws, friendly competitions, reading materials, and the Magic Table interactive light projection system.
These activities are always on the go, ensuring to promote physical movement, social interaction, and most importantly, fun! Research has shown that this positively impacts individuals living with dementia, providing sensory stimulation, relaxation, and chances to reminisce.
Please feel free to join in anytime you pop by! Grab a cup of tea, have a seat and jump in with the activity. Our residents love the chance to chat to visitors.
Basking in the Sunshine at Kenwyn's Beautiful Gardens
Our gardens at Kenwyn are beautiful.
Spacious and green, with flower beds and trees, our outdoor space lends itself perfectly to a little alfresco living.
We don’t need to mention that it seems to have been a while since Winter began, so the minute the Sun popped his hat on, we were outside making the most of it.
Amongst other things, the sun promotes a sensation of well-being and improves mood.
It boosts the immune system and can relieve pain. It promotes relaxation too, and we felt everyone of these benefits and more this weekend.
Surprise Celebration: Happy 50th Birthday, Rachel!
We had a visit today from our Deputy Managing Director, Duncan Edwards.
A little bird told him that one of Kenwyn’s lovely senior carers Rachel Johnson was trying to keep her very special Birthday under wraps whilst at work.
As you can see from this photo, we didn’t let her keep it a secret for long!

Kenwyn Hosts 'Care for a Song' Radio Interviews
Our Home Services Advisor, Adele has formed really great links with our local CHBN radio station (Community and Hospital Broadcasting Network.)
The Service has been broadcasting since 1980 and since 2014 has been available on FM Broadband across Truro and surrounding areas, as well as of course doing a fantastic job for all our main hospitals patients.
Due to the links we have made, last week we invited a special guest to Kenwyn, Peter, a local radio presenter. Peter heads up a fabulous show called ‘Care for a song.’
He spent time chatting to residents and asking them about them, their life in Kenwyn and their favourite music amongst many other things.
We spent a lovely few hours with Peter and Kenwyn’s residents each loved their chats that took them on a special trip down memory lane.
The show is to be aired this week!
Community Companions Continue
Each week at Kenwyn we continue to link up with BT.
Their volunteer scheme ‘Community Companion’ is designed to bring extra joy to residents at Kenwyn.
Volunteers spend half an hour each Wednesday having a good old natter about anything and everything. The scheme has been a huge success.
Julia’s smile during her chat show just how enjoyable the time is.
If you know of anyone who might enjoy a chat like this, just let us know.
A Touching Story: How a Therapy Pony Inspired Generosity and Joy
Brenda, one of our beloved residents here at Kenwyn, eyes light up whenever animals are around, and earlier this year she had the pleasure of meeting Dude the therapy pony.
Touched by Dude's incredible work, Brenda's daughter, Alison, and her husband decided to visit The Hugs Foundation Farm where Dude lives. Alison was so enamoured by Dude's charm that she decided to 'adopt' him through an annual sponsorship, ensuring that Dude can continue to spread happiness to more people. But it didn't stop there. Oscar the donkey, Dude's best friend, also captured their hearts and without hesitation, Alison's husband decided to 'adopt' Oscar, ensuring he wasn't left out of the family.
This heartwarming story is a testament to the incredible impact therapy animals like Dude and Oscar have on people's lives. It all started with Dude's visit to Kenwyn, and we couldn't be more grateful to be alongside therapy animals and people like Alison and her husband, who make the world a brighter place.
