Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Chloe Alcock

Activities Lead

Chloe loves bringing creativity into our home and making our residents smile. Whether she's engaging residents with her artistic flair or simply brightening their day, Chloe is always finding ways to connect with those around her.
When she’s not at work, you’ll find her cozy under her favourite blanket with a cup of tea, crocheting or playing video games.
Chloe has a passion for animal care which led her to volunteer at Shepreth Wildlife Park, where she worked with red pandas, lemurs, and coatis. She’s also an award-winning artist, having earned the Royston Art Society’s Young Artist Award, and studied Game Art at Falmouth University, She brings a wealth of creativity and skills to our residents.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Once Upon a Time....

One morning, recently - or should I say ‘Once upon a time?’ we took some time to explore the mythical, yet magical origin of enchanted beings such as The Fairy.

There were lots of questions and Chloe from our Activities team had done her research so was able to answer them.

We all enjoyed the trip down this unusually magical path.

Community Dementia Cafe success

Last week we hosted Kenwyn’s Community Dementia cafe.

Our cafes offer support for friends, families and others in the community supporting those living with Dementia. An excellent opportunity to meet with others in similar situations. Also a time to relax, unwind and enjoy a couple of hours at Kenwyn.

This week we invited our friends from Falmouth Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare and our entertainment was the fantastic Mark's Ark Wildlife Encounters

A huge thank you to all who attended once more & watch this space for details of the next one.

Kenwyn Hosts an interactive musical extravaganza

Recently one of our residents’ favourite acts joined us again.

The hugely popular Claire Hamlen and her brilliantly interactive musical performance had her audience captivated and we all enjoyed yet another wonderful afternoon.

National Fish and Chip Day celebrated at Kenwyn

The biggest day in the Fish and Chip Calender has to be Friday June 2nd which is National Fish and Chips Day!

Rich, delicious, full of flavour and utterly satisfying - that is the best way to describe this tasty treat made up of, well, fish…and chips!

National Fish and Chip Day commemorates this fundamental meal throughout the United Kingdom and beyond. And while its roots may lay on Britannia’s foggy shores, there are few places in the world that this comfort food hasn’t found its way to.

As you can see, we didn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate this!

Carer's Cafe is coming to Kenwyn

As we have seen, this week was International Carers week.

At Kenwyn we have some incredible Carers.

Here we can see Becky, Kenwyn’s General Manager with a box full of chocolatey treats for Care staff.

Becky wanted to take the opportunity that this week brings to reflect and thank all Carers for their hard work and love and support they bring to Kenwyn’s residents.
