Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kenwyn Care Home
We visit Falmouth Court with Word Searches
This week we all jumped into Kenwyn’s minibus and headed down to our sister home Falmouth Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare for a special reason.
One of Kenwyn’s residents, Jane has been very busy with the support of Kenwyn’s Activity team creating lots of Word Searches.
We arranged with Falmouth Court Care Home - Barchester Healthcare Home Services Advisor, Hugh to head down on a beautiful summers day so that Jane could present and share her creations with the residents of Falmouth Court.
We spent a wonderful afternoon with all our residents enjoying the word searches.
Falmouth Court were wonderful, welcoming hosts, providing us all with refreshments and tasty treats. If you look at the photos, you may spot Ivan, Kenwyn’s maintenance man making the most of the wonderful hospitality.
We have already invited residents of Falmouth Court to come to Kenwyn and we look forward to sharing another lovely afternoon.

Wonderful Coronation Celebrations at Kenwyn
Love, laughter and unity were just some of the feelings in abundance today at Kenwyn, as our residents, relatives, friends and staff came together to observe King Charles Coronation.
What at day to remember! A day that will go down in history - a day when our King was crowned.
We celebrated with a bottomless supply of Bucks Fizz, Strawberries and Cream, Scones with jam and cream, Cake and a beautiful Coronation menu.
We will let our photos speak for themselves….

Kenwyn's Musical workshop wins the day!
This week Claire Hamlen visited here at Kenwyn.
Claire specialises in person-centred music experiences, which can be in the form of an interactive group workshop, interactive group performance or individual performances in bedrooms. We chose a music performance this occasion.
Doreen one of our residents told us that Claire is her absolute favourite, so we have of course booked some more dates for her to visit and we can’t wait for the next experience.

Sounds are Us visit Kenwyn again
Musical Cornish Duo ‘Sounds are us’ once again joined us at Kenwyn this week.
It’s fair to say that our residents adore this pair who definitely fly the Kernow flag.
Not only does everyone sing and dance along, we are all in hysterics with the Cornish themed humour that the pair share between songs.
Staying much longer than anticipated, we are sure that they love Kenwyn as much as we all do.
We can’t wait until next time!

Who doesn't love the Sax?!
🎵🎼🎶 Is there anybody who doesn’t love the sound of the Sax? Derek Valenti joined us again this week and one thing we know for certain is that our residents love it! The melody 🎵 seems to fill every corner of Kenwyn. Derek is a regular visitor to Kenwyn. You are all welcome to come along next time and share in the fun.

Time for Chess!
The Community Sunshine cafe is a firm favourite of us here at Kenwyn.
The work it does to provide friendship, company, warm food and shelter is invaluable to the local community.
One of the attendees, Pat is 90 years young and visits every week.
Pat likes to challenge herself and mentioned to Adele - Kenwyn's Home Services Advisor that she really would like to learn to play Chess (at the same time she is also learning the Cornish language!)
Adele dusted off her Grandads Chess set and set to work teaching the game.
Whilst others chatted, played various games and drank tea, Pat was quietly becoming more confident in her chosen quest.
Pat was very thankful for the opportunity and asked when the next lesson will be!
