Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Scarlett Eastham
As the head of Activities and Kenwyn, Scarlett has been part of the team for two years, Initially working as a Care Assistant. She has a genuine passion for spending time with residents, always making their happiness her priority and bringing smiles to their faces.

Activities and Events Partnerships
As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Kenwyn Care Home
Safari Tour
Here at Kenwyn, we were treated to a live interactive tour of Knowsley Safari park, where we enjoyed a tour of the park and seeing how zookeepers stimulate the animals at dinner time with new innovative eating activities. This was finished with an interesting Q&A session, where our residents got their questions answered.
Magic Table Games
Here at Kenwyn, we all enjoy the fun offered by our Magic Table, where we can paint virtual pictures, rake the leaves and even have a game of table football!
Red Nose - Comic Relief Day
Comic Relief Day is always fun at Kenwyn care Home. This year our activities coordinator Chloe dressed as a turkey ( why not ) and joined our residents for Armchair aerobics and cakes decorating. A good time was had by all.
Mary Quant Life and Times virtual talk at Kenwyn
As part of our life enrichment virtual programme, team members and residents at Kenwyn enjoyed a ‘Mary Quant Life and Time’ virtual talk, hosted by @VADundee.
The residents took a journey back to the swinging sixties and the height of liberated fashion with the first major exhibition in 50 years of the seminal British designer’s work. Everyone at the home was able to explore how her unique style developed from humble beginnings and went on to change the face of fashion forever.
Quant captured the spirit of the swinging sixties and pioneered a business model that reshaped the industry, making designer fashion far more accessible for women and men.
The talk also focused on Quant’s career and influences, the personal stories behind some of the stylish outfits in the exhibition, V&A Dundee’s #SewQuant campaign and even a peek behind the scenes.
V&A Dundee is Scotland’s design and opened on 15 September 2018. It is the first Victoria and Albert museum outside London, and presents the brilliance of Scottish creativity and the best of design from
Lucy Tomlinson, Resident Experience Manager for Barchester Healthcare, commented: “Our varied life enrichment programme keeps the residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to the residents’ interests and abilities.”
Spring has Sprung
Spring is in the air and its time to start enjoying our gardens again. This morning some of our residents went into our gardens to enjoy the fresh air and sounds of spring. Long may it last.
