Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Kenwyn's Dementia Cafe and Mothers Day preparations
On Saturday we hosted March’s Dementia Café on Saturday on Kenwyn’s Memory Lane.
Residents and relatives were invited to our café that was this time filled with Mothers’ Day preparations.
Kenwyn’s Chef’s supplied a wonderful sweet treat offering along with hot and cold drinks.
With Arts and Crafts like card making, painting, sewing and more, our Dementia Cafés are always a success.
Watch this space for details of our next one – all will always be warmly welcomed.

St Pirans Day -Kenwyn Style
Cornwall celebrated St Piran’s Day on March 5th. We learn about St Piran in primary school.
Many believe St Piran was a Bishop who was exiled from Ireland in the early 6th century by those who were envious of his ability to heal.
Legend suggested that he was thrown to Sea attached to millstone and somehow managed to sail safely to Cornwall, landing on a small beach near Newquay which was named Perran Beach in his honour. It was here that Saint Piran built his Oratory – a small chapel whose remains can still be seen today, submerged in sand.
We celebrated at Kenwyn the best way we can in Cornwall – with Cornish Pasties.

Rachel Best sings for us again
Sometimes it just makes sense to let the music do the talking
Today at Kenwyn was no different.
With one of our most popular acts, and Kenwyn favourite, Rachel Best performing another fantastic set to our residents, our feet just couldn’t stand still.

Sounds are us!
Today at Kenwyn we welcomed - from the very heart Cornwall: ‘Sounds are us.’
Our residents loved the Cornish duo and were very much the captive audience, singing and clapping away. We hope to invite them back very soon.

Carharrack U3A Choir Visits Kenwyn
We’ve had a busy week in Kenwyn with some wonderful acts joining us.
The Carharrack Choir joined us on Tuesday. Part of the U3A (University of the third age) they came to sing for our residents.
We were all overwhelmed at how many volunteered to spend the afternoon at Kenwyn, doing their part in enriching the lives of our residents.
We all loved this visit and will be delighted to invite them back in the near future.
