Activities at Kenwyn Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kenwyn Care Home

Time for Chess!

The Community Sunshine cafe is a firm favourite of us here at Kenwyn.

The work it does to provide friendship, company, warm food and shelter is invaluable to the local community.

One of the attendees, Pat is 90 years young and visits every week.

Pat likes to challenge herself and mentioned to Adele - Kenwyn's Home Services Advisor that she really would like to learn to play Chess (at the same time she is also learning the Cornish language!)

Adele dusted off her Grandads Chess set and set to work teaching the game.

Whilst others chatted, played various games and drank tea, Pat was quietly becoming more confident in her chosen quest.

Pat was very thankful for the opportunity and asked when the next lesson will be!

A visit to our local surgery to say Thank You

A little thank you can go a long way - especially when that little thank you comes in the form of 30 cakes!

At Kenwyn we work very closely and have a wonderful working relationship with all at the Three Spires Medical Practice.

This week, our Home Services Advisor popped down to see them with armful's of freshly baked cakes, to say a warm thank you for all they do.

It's fair to say they went down a storm!

The lovely Rachel brings Kenwyn's residents to their feet

When Rachel visits us she even brightens this unpredictable weather Cornwall is seeing at the moment.

Our residents turned out in force to appreciate Rachel’s singing and moves on the dancefloor, with some even jiving the afternoon away!

We can’t wait until next time!

Lots of photos for you to browse - but we are sure you will agree they are worth it.

It feels like Pamper week at Kenwyn

This week it feels like pamper week at Kenwyn.

We have had the lovely Alana Hill Arnold - fantastic Beauty Therapist - visiting and pampering our residents and today, our Salons doors were well and truly open whilst Kenwyn’s hairdresser Tracey Ellard set to work making wishes come true for our residents and their locks.

Pictured you can see Moira in her before, during and after shots.

Moira hasn’t had her hair coloured for more than 30 years but today was time for a change!

Doesn’t she look wonderful?!
