Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home
M Shed Museum
Our residents had a wonderful time visiting the M Shed Museum in Bristol recently.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed learning about Bristol's rich history, with some of our resident’s reminiscing about how they lived through these times. Its always a pleasure to learn and discuss with our residents about past historic events.
We love our trips out on the minibus and even had time for a refreshing pint at a lovely local pub.
Aerospace Museum Adventure
At Kingfisher Lodge we have recently embarked on an adventure too the Aerospace museum in Filton.
We had such a brilliant day, we learnt all about the history of the aircraft and had the opportunity to see the incredible Concorde.
This was such a special day for us but even more incredible for one of our lovely residents who actually worked on its engine throughout his career. It brought back so many great memories for us all.
A fishy visit to Bristol Aquarium
What a fishy day we had visiting Bristol Aquarium. Our residents and activity team enjoyed watching rays, piranhas, crabs, puffer fish and many more. It was so interesting learning about the different species of fish that we met along the way. At one point we even ended up in the jaws of a Megalodon
We then all went for a walk around the docks to count our minutes for “Get Barchester Moving” that launches today and ended with some fish and chips for lunch.
We cant wait for the next bus trip adventure!
A Windy Weston trip!
We have been busy on another outing at Kingfisher Lodge!
This time we took our lovely residents to a beautiful but very windy Weston-super-Mare.
It was a brilliant day out, with a visit to the pier and some time spent in the arcade which brought back many lovely memories for our residents.
Of course a trip to the seaside is not complete without a stop for some delicious Fish and Chips.
We cant wait for our next visit!
A trip to Bristol Zoo Project
At Kingfisher Lodge we recently went to the Bristol Zoo project. Staff and residents where on a mission to find some bears!
And the mission was a success. Not only did we have the pleasure of seeing bears, we also had the opportunity to see Wolves, Giraffes, Zebra and many more brilliant animals.
We really had a wonderful day seeing all the animals and learning all about their conservation projects.
The residents really enjoy getting out and experiencing something brand new enhancing their quality of life. Lets see where we go next!
Off to Puxton Park
Another Wednesday at kingfisher Lodge means out comes the mini bus keys! Karen and George this week are taking some residents to Puxton Park in Weston Super Mare.
From new furry baby piglets to feeding the baby lambs , fun was had by all that went along to this weeks trip. Any trip involving animals is always a loved trip by all. And any trip when Karen the chef tags along will always be full of fun and laughter.
The residents loved the leisurely strolls around the gardens and enjoyed watching the young children skipping happily and excitedly awaiting their turn to feed the baby animals.
This was a beautiful peaceful day enjoyed with a lovely pot of tea and a cream cake. No doubt this will be on this list for a future visit.
