Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

A Visit from our local PCSOs

Kingfisher lodge residents and members of our community would like to say a big thank you to PCSO’s Sarah Hewlett and Martyn Bragg for giving up their time and coming in and talking to us about their services yesterday. Our residents had lots of questions for them which kept them chatting for over and hour and a half. Everyone gathered in reception and we learnt of what the job entails , how different they are to the police and some funny stories which had us all laughing . Sarah and Martyn also described about some serious crimes and told us they sometimes are the first to attend an accident . We were all very interested in what they had to say and they both said they would drop in for a coffee when they are passing soon.

We all enjoyed a good chat and some delicious cakes as well as the coffee!

Good community relations with our emergency services are so important and we like to give them our appreciation for the hard work they do every day.

Weekly Christian Group

Every fortnight our Christian residents gather on a Sunday morning to practice their faith. A virtual church service is played on TV and after George our Activity Lead holds a Bible stories session where the residents look at bible stories and talk about what it means to them and how they interpret this into their faith. This is in addition to Churches together in Keynsham and Saltford who come to the home  do a wonderful service for our residents and families every month.

Many residents who attend feel the group have bonded over these sessions and that it’s become a lovely support network for them to practice their faith.

One resident has said she looks forward to these meetings and feels like she can open up and really talk about her beliefs to the group.

Everyone is welcome.

Botanical Gardens Visit

We have been making the most of the glorious weather we've had recently and took a trip out in the mini bus.

Some of our residents and their family members joined us for a visit to the Botanical gardens in Bath’s Victoria park.

It was such a peaceful afternoon taking in our surroundings. Its was a treat to take a walk and admire the unusual trees and flowers which were in bloom. We were even entertained by the squirrels who played all along our walk.

Our trips out are obviously not complete with out a delicious slice of cake and coffee.

Dog Show

At Kingfisher Lodge we recently held our dog show and what a fantastic day it was!

A big thank you to everyone that joined us and of course their wonderful dogs. The day was filled with laughter, love and some furry cuddles.

There were lots of different categories for our furry visitors to enter, with many of them coming away with some delicious treats to enjoy.

Congratulations to all our winners and a special shout out to all the dogs that were on their best behaviour that day.

We cant wait for next years!

Mini Fisher's Baby and Toddler Group

At Kingfisher Lodge we have launched our new baby and toddler group "Mini Fishers".

Its a group for parents and their little ones to come and join us for a morning of fun, laughter and play!

Intergenerational groups are so important for not only our residents but our younger community. Just look at the smiles on all our residents faces!

We had the pleasure of being joined by some very well behaved little ones and their parents of course.

Our general manager Claudia couldn’t even resist coming along and having cuddles.

Visit to Slimbridge Wetlands Centre

We recently jumped in the mini bus and took a trip to to Slimbridge wetlands centre.

We had so much fun going around the reserve and seeing the different varieties of birds there.

The main birds you couldn’t miss though were the Geese and they were magnificent albeit very clumsy and silly when trying to get to the food.

Of course our trip was not completed with a stop for some delicious lunch. We enjoyed tasty meal of fish and chips in the lovely Kingfisher cafe.

Trips out are an important part of our life enrichment program at Kingfisher Lodge.
