Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Downtown

Residents recently took a trip out to Downtown, a shopping and garden centre in Grantham. They really enjoyed this outing and we managed to pick up everything on our shopping lists. We even had time for coffee and cake, courtesy of Trish, who works at Downtown. They always make us feel so welcome there!

Harvest Festival

Children from the local nursery, Fernwood, attended our Harvest Festival. We all donated and made up hampers for the local food bank in Newark.

Jenny from the food bank gave a talk about where our food will be going to and it was wonderful to see how it would help others. Residents, staff and the nursery children sang hymns, prayed and had a wonderful morning with our guests.

Exotic Animals

Exotic Animals

We had a wonderful morning with a visit from Tony Butlers exotic animal encounters. Tony has been here before and helped us with our 'Face Your Fears' afternoon last year. This time we were amazed by the visit from the skunk, we had to keep him extremely calm and relaxed, the children from the local nursery in Fernwood joined us too and they we so very quiet when the skunk was around.

Tony told a story about each animal and really engaged with the children and the residents. We love having them at our home.

Kesteven Rideability

Kesteven Rideability

For the last 2 years we have had the pleasure of visiting Kesteven Rideability, we take five resents on each trip to Hough on the hill, these trips are so rewarding offering relaxation, it creates an ideal opportunity for our residents to rekindle their love of horses or experience a connection with a horse for the first time.

Thank you so much Karen and team for welcoming us.

Trip to Newark Castle

Trip to Newark Castle

We had a lovely trip to Newark where we had the opportunity to see the remains of Newark castle and the river Trent. The weather was great, so we enjoyed some ice-creams. We also did a tour of the surrounding villages, we went through Farndon, Hawton and Balderton, and finally we were back to Fernwood. Residents were excited to have a talk about the history of the villages.
