Activities at Lanercost House Care Home
Our dedicated Activities Coordinators offer a wide range of mentally and physically stimulating activities for residents and families to enjoy. There are regular outings in the minibus to places of interest, such as local cafes, garden centres and parks, as well as visits from entertainers, musicians and singers - and also from PAT dogs. We host various events, such as themed days, cheese & wine evenings, in addition to offering one-to-one activity sessions, including pampering, games and puzzles. Our activities staff strive to ensure residents participate in any way they can with activities that reflect their capabilities and interests.

I joined the Lanercost House family in June 2021 as a Care Assistant and then joined the activities team in May 2022.
I love bringing joy and fun to residents, relatives, and staff on a daily basis as well as planning and organising themed days, events, and celebrations.
I think the activities’ role is very important for Residents' well-being. Whether they like to keep active with armchair exercises, join in with our weekly quiz or hop in the minibus for a day out - there is something for everyone. I aim to ensure that each Resident's interests and hobbies are supported.
I am passionate about creative and sensory activities and I love to sing and dance together with Residents. I love my job!

A Full day of Activities
Residents and staff at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle enjoyed a busy day of activities!
We have enjoyed music for health with James with lots of exercises for the body mind and soul, pet dog therapy a carer brought her puppy for a visit and some arts and crafts painting rocks!
Wear it Pink
Everyone at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle enjoyed celebrating Wear It Pink for breast cancer awareness!
Everyone got dressed in their best pink outfits and enjoyed the live music, pink treats and hot drinks!
Breast Cancer Now's wear it pink day is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. Taking place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, thousands of amazing people wear it pink in their communities, schools or work places for the UK's largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.
We raised an amazing £83!
Lookout Community Hub
Residents and the activity team at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle had a wonderful morning at the lookout community hub.
We really enjoyed the dementia friendly arts and crafts session with age concern. We loved making cards for different occasions, meeting new people, the beautiful food that was served and endless amounts of cups of tea.
Another brilliant way to engage with the community!

Arts and Crafts
Residents and staff at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle enjoyed an afternoon in the sun!
We decided to do arts and crafts in the garden this afternoon as the sun was too beautiful to miss, we made some photo frames which we will put pictures in and display in our bedrooms.
Sheila resident here said “I love being creative and it’s even better we can do it in the garden”

We have enjoyed pet therapy with the homes Guinea pigs, made breakfast smoothies, had some sensory activities and played our weekly game of bingo.
Muriel resident here said “ I love playing bingo, they call me the bingo queen as I always win”
Seaside puppet show
Residents and staff at Lanercost House Care Home in Carlisle have recently enjoyed the puppets seaside show!
Everyone enjoyed singing along to the music and watching the puppets. Thank you Clare for your amazing performance once again!
