'Diamond' reunion to celebrate Wedding Anniversary

Margaret and Roy Welch celebrated their Diamond wedding anniversary at Latimer Court care home in Worcester after being unable to see each other for three months. They were reunited with a safely-managed visit just in time to mark their 60th anniversary with an exchange of gifts, reminiscing with their daughter; Andrea and sipping some bubbly - which they "thoroughly enjoyed".

The loved-up couple got married on the 9th July 1960 at St George’s Church in Barbourne Worcester, on a beautiful sunny day. Today’s wet weather wasn’t going to dampen the occasion. Margaret commented; after 60 years of marriage as long as they worked together they could get through anything! The couple have 2 children and 4 grandchildren.

Before the pandemic, Margaret and the family would visit Roy regularly. When visiting was stopped they could only communicate on FaceTime. They wanted to thank the staff at Latimer for their hard work and giving them the reassurance that Roy is in the right place.

General Manager Kerry Hill said: "We had such a lovely time celebrating Margaret and Roy's Diamond anniversary "It's so wonderful to see two people still very much in love after all these years. Being able to connect in person has not only lifted their spirits but has had a positive impact on everyone here."

National Chocolate Day

The residents of Latimer Court celebrated National Chocolate Day on 7th July 2020 in style with a wonderful chocolate fountain and selection of healthy fruit pieces and naughty marshmallow dipping treats. Our activities team took the trolley around serving up chocolate delights to each community. The staff couldn't resist the odd dip or 2 dips as they passed through.

Family Reunions

For a number of residents the long awaited reunion with family and friends became a reality as limited garden visits have now been allowed to commence in our home. It's a real pleasure for Latimer Court to be able to facilitate these wonderful get-togethers.

Worcester Life Stories - Launch

Several of our Beaufort community watched the via YouTube the Worcester Life Stories launch live on Saturday 27th June 2020. We were treated to a full day of interactive talks and a slide show of historic photos of Worcester streets and landmarks. Before lunch the group enjoyed music from Betsy Harmony who performed a selection of 1950s and 60s hits. The Worcester Life Stories team provided us with a scrumptious array of cream teas and cake, rounding of the event with a live photo quiz. It was a special time for many of our Worcester born residents. Thank you so much for the invitation to join in.

Seaside Fun in the Sun

The activities team at Latimer Court turned the courtyard into a seaside scene, with paddling pools of water and sand so our residents could dip their toes in cooling water and build the odd sand castle. Our sweetie trolley served fresh ices and treats for all.

Appreciation of Care

We wished to send a massive thank you for the good relations we have struck with our hardworking neighbours at Meadow Court, the Assisted Living complex located opposite our care home in Darwin Avenue. Our chef took time to bake a beautiful Coffee & Walnut cake for them to enjoy from all at Latimer Court.
