Activities at Laurel Bank Care Home
Activities are a fundamental part of a rich and varied lifestyle here at Laurel Bank Care Home, which is why we organise both physically and mentally stimulating social events for those we support. The weekly itinerary is ever-changing, and regularly includes art lessons, chair-based exercise, trips and visits from a variety of different animals, as well as one-to-one time for residents who prefer the peace and quiet. Our team actively tries to incorporate the hobbies and interests that are meaningful to residents into the activities schedule as encouragement to continue with much-loved pastimes.
Jaimy Lee Almond
Hi, my name is Jaimy Lee, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Laurel Bank.
I have worked in the care home industry for over nine years. I started working at Laurel Bank in 2018 as a carer, and then, I was promoted to senior carer which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I moved over to activities in 2020, as I was asked to help out and help encourage residents to join in. During this, I realised how much fun it could be and chose to stay on and got promoted to Activities Coordinator.
I love my role as every day is different and I try to make sure the residents are happy and engage in meaningful activities, this also helps support the transition for new residents.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Laurel Bank Care Home
Residents enter cake competition
The residents of Laurel Bank are always keen to join in and share their cooking skills honed over many years and were delighted to submit their entry to Barchester's annual Christmas cake competition.
Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Tripping the light fantastic!
Lighting up time got a whole new meaning at Laurel Bank care home as the community came together to see the home’s Christmas lights switched on for the very first time this Christmas. Staff and residents at Barchester’s Laurel Bank care home, in Lancaster, got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the community to come and join in with staff and residents who all gathered in the home’s garden for the occasion.

Trip to Barton Grange
We had a lovely trip to Barton Grange today to see all of the christmas displays and then enjoyed a cake and cuppa in the cafe. Wonderful day!
101st celebrations!
Yesterday Frances celebrated her 101st birthday, and one of our chefs Melvin made an incredible cake to help her celebrate! Happy birthday Frances, we hope you had a wonderful day!
