Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Chloe Cameron

Activities Coordinator

This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Lawton Manor Care Home

Ferndown florist demo

Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays.  Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.

Musical Delights

Deborah gave a delightful musical performance when she came to sing a set list of some wonderful songs.  An afternoon with such an inspirational artist like Deborah can lift the mood and bring smiles to us all!

Throughout the performance we felt like we were listening to the original singer of some very well known favourite songs!

Day Tripping on the Canal

Residents had a lovely day on board the Mary Sunley Barge, We sailed along the Macclesfield canal and spotted 2 herons and several baby ducks and geese, there were also fields with rare breed sheep which was a lovely sight to see.

We ate deliciously fresh fish and chips courtesy of Goyt Fish Bar

This trip is residents' No.1 activity choice and favourite day out.  We have another trip booked for later in the year already.

Book corner with Graham Whitlock

We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.

Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.

School's Seasonal Poetry for Residents

Residents enjoyed a poetry session inspired by the children of Woodcocks’ Well PTFA Primary School who delivered their seasonal themed poems for us to enjoy.  Residents absolutely loved reading them.

We are very lucky to have such talented and creative children in our area.
