Activities at Lawton Manor Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Chloe Cameron

Activities Coordinator

This is Chloe and she is our Activities Coordinator here at Lawton Manor. Her job is to physically and mentally stimulate our residents by offering a range of activities for them to enjoy. She wants to get everyone involved and make our home community and atmosphere as positive and welcoming as possible.

Making sure that our residents have things to do that they really enjoy doing is something that Chloe holds very close to her heart. It is so important to make sure that they are happy and enjoy all of the activities and events that we host for them. A lot of our residents also enjoy our special trips out on our Minibus as we create new, special memories together.

Life at Lawton Manor Care Home

British Pie Week

Over the course of the week, overseen by head chef Nick Mason, staff and residents experimented with many different types of pie fillings and flavour combinations, from more traditional meat and vegetable fillings, to vegetarian and vegan offerings, hot and spicy fillings, and sweet pies and pastries - this week has certainly been a veritable pie-filled feast!

World Book day

Here at Lawton Manor our bookshelves were bulging as we celebrated World Book Day in style.

The day promotes reading for pleasure, so our residents decided to host a discussion about their favourite books and authors, and to join a storytelling session.

We tested our knowledge with a book quiz and got involved in a variety of themed activities.

Hand crafted Lamps

Upcycling has become very popular for many of us.  For our latest craft project, we gathered to share ideas and discuss materials to create our own table lights.  We love the reuse of a wine bottle shown here.

The Bluebirds, An Afternoon Performance

In the comfort of our own home we were thrilled to be in the audience for a Live Bluebirds Show

The singing duo performed a high energy show that we will not forget.  Residents thoroughly enjoyed the perfectly choreographed routines and The Bluebirds' beautiful harmonies!

Love is in the Air

Valentines Day was full of romance, kindness and a deliciously themed lunch!

We thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience and social occasion which started with a beautifully carved melon rose drizzled with a peach and strawberry coulis.  Choices for the main course included, chicken in a mushroom & tarragon sauce or roast salmon & honey sauce, all served with plenty of vegetables.

Dessert had to be a lovingly constructed chocolate mousse with a homemade shortbread heart biscuit

This was definitely Chef's way to all our hearts!
