Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Reminiscing Club

All our residents had a brilliant day with our friends from the Library,

We have a transportation reminiscing club. This was filled with historic newspapers clippings, books and pictures.

Our residents had a wonderful day celebration transportation.

We were also all able to enjoy a nice up of tea and coffee during this group activity.

All our residents were delighted to hear they are coming back next month too.

A trip to the shops

Aileen and Arthur enjoyed a trip to Asda with our activities assistant Debbie.

During the trip Debbie was able to speak about old memories  with Mr and Mrs Mannel and their love for stage coach buses.

Mr and Mrs Mannel had a wonderful time being greated by the bus driver.

When they reached ASDA they had a delicious cake from the café and a nice cuppa tea.

Mr and Mrs Mannel were so happy with their trip to the shops with Debbie.

Etta really enjoyed her recent visit to the local wild seed landscape plot in the village. Etta was delighted to see all the wild flowers starting to flourish and attract wildlife such as, sparrows birds, finch birds, thrush birds, tit birds bumblebees and butterflies. On the walk Etta really enjoyed looking at all the local resident gardens. Etta was elated with joy at this walk.

Mary really enjoyed her first visit to the Knit and Natter Club. Mary was so happy to meet new friends and tell us all about her love for knitting. Mary was very content during this club and especially loved the Freshly baked Cream cheese cake that the Knitting volunteers brought. Mary said “I can not wait to come again next week”

Raymond tends to our vegetables

Raymond has recently enjoyed time in our beautiful garden helping with the Greenhouse, watering the pepper, tomato and cucumber plants.

Raymond and the activities team enjoyed speaking about their love for vegetables and all things home grown.

Today's activity has given Raymond a great sense of accomplishment and a great deal of pride.

Pets at the Palaces

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.
