Activities at Lethen Park Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Amanda McCarthy
We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Charity Cook Off
Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.
Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life. Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
Eden Project
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.
During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories. A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.
For the love of birds...
Resident, Sheila has a love of animals and can often been seen relaxing over an encyclopaedia full of them! On this recent occasion, Sheila’s choice was birds, and was delighted to listen to activities coordinator, Debbie sharing articles of birds, the various types whilst listening to the sounds they make.
Amidst all the beautiful birds on display, Sheila’s attention landed on the woodpecker family and she gladly viewed to her excitement. She chatted on the colourful patterns on their feather and the long mouth part associated with the wood peckers. During this resident centred activity, Sheila also enjoyed watching a video on the iPad of woodpeckers and found this delightful and hopes to catch a woodpecker in the homes garden soon.
The wheels on the bus....
A wish comes true for Resident, Bert who often prefers the comfort of his own room. Activities coordinator, Amanda applied the necessary magical words which had Bert on his toes and ready to dash out in the beautiful sunshine.
Once outside, a trip to ‘McDonalds’ eatery in Portlethen retail park was the location and throughout his trip, Bert chatted heartily and took delight with his adventure on the bus.
Classic sounds with Alan
Resident, Marjory enjoys a relaxing musical activity listening to ‘Alan’s classics’ from Oomph on demand. This meaningful resident centred activity brought brought calm and relaxation and the sounds of Alan’s soothing tone as he performed a medley of classics.
The Oomph platform provides a flexible digital resource with tailored activity, exercise and TV content and a wide range of resources to support our residents, care teams and family members to improve Life Enrichment and overall quality of life.
Visit to Cove Bay Nursery
Resident, Ruby had a wonderful day out visiting Cove Bay Nursery, during the visit Ruby met a beautiful dog as she loves animals and has such a kind heart for caring for animals. Ruby instantly showed love care and kindness to this beautiful dog.
During the visit to the nursery, Ruby and Amanda shared a moment of reflection at the sea view. We reminisced over days at the beach and over the beautiful colours of the landscapes. Ruby loved her visit to the Cove Bay Nursery’s and we’d like to thank their team for their warm welcome and accommodating our visit.
