Activities at Lethen Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Amanda McCarthy

Activities Coordinator

We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within the home and we work together to give residents the best possible experience. We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centered program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents and their families and friends

Life at Lethen Park Care Home

Residents enjoy visit to local riding club

Excitement was building at Barchester’s Lethen Park care home in Portlethen as staff and residents went on a day trip in the home’s minibus to see Troy the Pony.

Planned by the home’s Activities Coordinator, staff and residents from the Memory Lane community at Lethen Park which is especially designed for residents living with dementia, went to Hayfield Riding club where they were met by the director Lorna and The beautiful Pony Troy. We enjoyed a walk around the premises and seen all the beautiful horses large and small. We then went to Sally’s café for a fine cuppa, soup and a delicious sandwich.

Coronation virtual talk

Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.

During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.

Kole Helping for the Day

Kole had a brilliant time on his easter holidays with all our residents at Lethen park, Kole supported the residents with very important tasks from our wellbeing priorities such as putting on the TV, Radios and helping residents to and from the lounge with supervision of a carer. Kole had a great day showing residents the fun things that you can do on a smart phone, snap chat filters and games. Kole can not wait to come back.

A Walk to the local shop

Jannett has been waiting for the nice weather to get out a walk, and on the 18th of April we did just that. Jannette had a wonderful walk with Amanda to the local shop, where we ran an errand for the Chef. Jannette felt liberated after the walk and said to Amanda “the walk did her the world of good”. Jannette is looking forward to our next walk.

Michael at Easter

Michael had a brilliant time this Easter. Michael enjoyed wearing our silly Easter decorations. He found this lots of Fun. Michael supported the activity team by telling lots of jokes to all the residents at the Easter dinner and he read out the Easter Sunday Oomph on Demand Activity service pack. All the residents really enjoyed the prays and songs.

Happy 101st Birthday Johnny!

Johnny had a very special birthday, he turned 101 years of age.

Johnny celebrated by having a tea party with his friends and his beloved son ken and daughter in law Pat.

Our head chef made a beautiful chocolate cake for the occasion.

Johnny said that the key to being 101 was living a life full of love and friendship AND not to forget laughter.
