Activities at Lindum House Care Home

Our fantastic Activities Coordinators make sure that there is a full programme of social events to suit all interests and capabilities. They aim to not only to stimulate, but to ensure that everyone involved has lots of fun. We enjoy trips out visiting local places of interest or just to explore, which inevitably ends up with us having a lovely lunch somewhere.

There are regular concerts that we hold in the home that allows us to have a good old singalong, and our community links include the local churches, knit and natter groups and toddler groups coming in to see residents.

On a daily basis, everyone enjoys a variety of activities, including quizzes, bingo, arts and crafts, reminiscing and movement to music. We also host movie afternoons on the big screen which, of course, involves popcorn and ice cream at the interval!

Any residents who are unable to join us in the communal areas for activities have one-to-one time in their rooms, with us either reading to them, chatting or anything else they wish to do that’s within their capabilities.

Kelly Rolph

Activities Co-ordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward too.

I grew up down south, my parents worked in news trade & I've lived in many places! I've lived in hull for 20 years now, worked in health and social care for around 15 years, I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!

I'm a super social person, enjoy being busy and sing in my spare time. I am part of a small singing charity group 'guise & gals'. I've been singing karaoke since I was 18 but never had the confidence to take it any further. I do, however, love putting on a show for our residents!

I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated' everyone is different and it's important to focus on each individuals wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!

I'm full of energy, providing there is music... it's good for my soul!

Our residents smiles are my reward, it makes me so happy to see them enjoying them selves.

Life at Lindum House Care Home

Finding Santa's little helpers!

Stephanie, our Activities Co-ordinator, has been going around the shops in Beverley this afternoon, handing out posters of either a Reindeer or an Elf for our "Find Santa's Little Helpers" Competition.  There are 9 Reindeers and 7 Elves to find.  This forms an important part of Lindum House's Community Engagement Outreach.

The shops taking part will display their poster from tomorrow until the 30th December.  There are a range of Shops displaying the posters, going from Saturday Market to Wednesday Market and are in no particular order - the shops picked the one they wished to have from the Selection available

They will face outwards from their windows, so no need to go in - but please feel free to show your support of the Businesses joining in.

Christmas crafting

Continuing our Christmas Craft whilst listening to Carols and sharing memories of our Christmas Past and discussing our Christmas Present.

(The fact that the participants were all wearing the same similar colour was completely coincidental.)

Birthday celebrations

Yesterday, we wished Beryl a very "Happy Birthday". Beryl received a visit from her sisters to mark the Occassion and enjoyed a little "Do" with her friends at Lindum House.

Bonfire celebrations

Our Residents have created a Guy Fawkes today - armed with Newspapers ready to screw up as stuffing.  We kept him sat in a chair in the Lounge for the Afternoon - and enjoyed introducing our 'new Resident' to the Care Staff.

This evening, our Head of Maintenance - Bob - lit some Fireworks in the garden for our Residents, who were watching in the warm of either the Lounge or the Dining Room.  This was followed by a Special Bonfire Supper.   Our Residents were handed Glow Sticks as an alternative to Sparklers, which were well received.

Halloween celebrations

Today, in both the Minster Lounge and Westwood Lounge, the Residents at Lindum House have made and helped create an Autumnal Scene, with a Halloween Twist.  Our Halloween Theme this year was Pumpkins, Black Cats and Witches.  This afternoon, we watched the film 'Hocus Pocus' whilst wearing Witches Hats.

Live musical performance

This morning, our Residents were treated to a Classical Concert by Live Entertainers Michael and Judith on the Piano and Cello.  This was attended by one of our Residents who, herself, used to play the Concert Cello.   It was so well received, that we have booked them again to play Christmas Songs and Carols for us on our 'Christmas Jumper Day' (8th December)

This afternoon, it was "Eyes Down" for a game of Bingo. Well done to our first 'Line' Winner, Jean, and 'House' Winner Peter.
