Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Life at Longueville Court Care Home

Seaside Visit

Seaside Visit

Residents were thrilled to be able to visit the seaside at Hunstanton this month and enjoyed a fish and chip lunch and an ice cream. We also enjoyed a visit to the arcades and this evoked lots of memories for some residents. Unusually, the only thing that was missing was the sun!

Scrabble Competition

Scrabble Competition

One of the highlights of the activities calendar at Longueville Court is the weekly Scrabble competition, where residents battle it out to see who can achieve the highest score. A great time is always had by all and new players are welcome to join in the competitive fun.

Hatching Chicks

Everyone at Longueville Court had a lovely experience recently hatching some of our very own chickens. We were delighted to be able to experience hatching eight chicks and everyone at the home thoroughly enjoyed keeping their eye on them throughout the 11 day process.

Once hatched, we cared for them and the whole process was a joy to experience – and we even gave them names! We were then lucky enough to be able to re-home them locally at The Green Backyard, where we can have days out visiting our new friends.

Music Man

Music Man

We recently welcomed our regular visitor and singer, Jeremy, who got residents and staff in the mood for a dance. It's plain to see that the residents really enjoy singing along to all their favourite songs and, as always, had plenty of requests for him.

Easter Celebrations

Easter Celebrations

We were recently visited by some four-legged friends, much to the delight of residents, families, staff and members of our local community.

Easter lambs joined us as part of our festive activities programme and the local community were invited to be part of the fun. Residents were able to feed and pet the lambs and the adorable things relaxed on their laps. The Phoenix Children's Foundation, which provided the experience, works closely with us and help to provide a number of therapeutic activities for residents.

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to give those we support the best experiences and quality of life. The lambs had such a positive impact on all the residents and really did put a smile on their faces. Everyone who attended commented on what a wonderful experience it was for them.

Nutrition & Hydration Week

Nutrition & Hydration Week

Peterborough United's first team players, Danny Lloyd and George Cooper, visited Longueville Court Care Home on Friday 16th March ('Fruity Friday') for Nutrition & Hydration Week, and donated a fruit basket and bottles of water for residents and staff at the home.
