Activities at Lydfords Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Carole Hierons
Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.
I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.
My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Life at Lydfords Care Home
Intergenerational Easter Fun!
What a lovely visit we had from our local Primary School. It's always great fun when they come.
On their last visit it was all about Easter Fun. The children coloured in their Easter bags for a fun competition. Everyone received a little chocolatey treat as they are all winners in our eyes.
Mums The Word
Staff at Lydfords arranged a special afternoon tea for residents, family and friends to enjoy. There were beautiful flowers and chocolate for every resident and relaxing hand massages to pamper everyone. Head chef, Enrico prepared a special afternoon tea to mark the day.
General Manager, Rikki said: “We’ve all had a really lovely day. It is always lovely to welcome family members and today had a wonderful feel about it. Our residents enjoyed a fantastic lunch and then a delicious afternoon tea prepared by our brilliant chefs. Days like these are so special.”
Shirley a resident at Lydfords, commented: “We have had a lovely day today, the staff always go to great lengths to make sure days like this are so special. It was wonderful to see my family and my friends being able to enjoy time with their families also, plus we all had a fabulous afternoon tea, I absolutely loved it.”
Lets Sew!
This month at sewing club, residents and Rachel started making shopping bags from spare material.
It’s a brilliant initiative to reduce waste and also when they are ready they will be given as presents to the local community to enjoy using them.
Uckfield Choir Performs
We have had the wonderful The Uckfield Singers Community Choir in to perform.
They sang a lovely range of songs and everyone joined in and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
It was particularly special for one of our residents who used to be a member and lovely for her to be reunited with some friends.
Skin Care And Makeup Class
Today was our skin event held by Sarah Allen, Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Sarah spoke about the importance of skin care and how to best look after it.
We learnt about the products and top makeup tips.
We were able to try products and given samples to take away.
Another informative and enjoyable afternoon.
Meet Lola, our Duke Of Edinburgh Volunteer
Lola is doing her Duke Of Edinburgh Bronze Award. Part of her achieving this amazing award is to volunteer within the community and we are very lucky that Lola asked to come to ours.
Lola comes in every week and spends time with the residents. They spend time doing crafts and chatting.
Our residents really enjoy this time of the week and Lola looks forward to visiting us also. Lola said when chatting “I really enjoy spending time and getting to know everyone here, they have so many wonderful stories and are very interesting to talk. I love the feel of the home and the hot chocolate is pretty tasty too.”
We would like to say thank you to Lola for making such a difference and always providing a lovely afternoon for our residents to enjoy.
Good luck with you Duke Of Edinburgh and we cannot wait to congratulate you when you get it.
