Activities at Lydfords Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Hello, my name is Carole and I am the Activities Lead here at Lydfords.

I have worked in this role for many years and I would not to do anything else.

My job is to plan and oversee the amazing life enrichment activities and trips for all of our residents. It is such a rewarding role and I love planning and doing crafts with everyone.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Annual BBQ Street Party

We had such a fun evening at our annual street party out the front of our home.

We were joined by the very talented Gem Stillman,  who sang all the tunes to get us up dancing and singing along.

We also had the authentic BBQ company Field & Flame who freshly prepared a delicious BBQ dinner.
Thank you to all those to came to join in the fun.

You're Never Too Old For Nerf War!

You should have heard the laughter coming from the lounge yesterday afternoon. We had such fun with nerf target practice, requested by the residents for something a bit silly and different.

Everyone got involved and had a go at the target practise. Sometimes it is nice to do something a bit different and can something so simple to make everyone smile.

Gentle Garden Yoga

This morning it was just right for our seated yoga group to take the class outside in the sunshine.
The weather was perfect and the being in the countryside helps with relaxation, releases endorphins and creates a calm and happy experience.
After all that stretching, we cooled off with a glass of iced water.

Nova School Of Dance Perform

What a special visit we had from the wonderful dancers at Nova School Of Dance.

Residents and the local community took their seats in the garden ready for the performance to start. The dancers did several routines from different genres and residents were thrilled to see the children perform so beautifully.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and always lovely to see how well the dancers are doing.

Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare

We had a lovely morning trip to Raystede Centre For Animal Welfare.

We took advantage of the lovely weather. Popped down to take a scroll and see some of their lovely animals followed by tea and cake in their cafe.

A Special Trip To The Shops

Pamela mentioned to the lifestyle team that she missed the simple task of catching a bus into town, doing some shopping and having a coffee.

So Carole organised an impromptu bus journey to Uckfield town today. The pair went shopping and of course, stopped off for a latte and cake. We're so fortunate to be able to offer those one on one moments for our residents. Both Carole and Pam had a great afternoon.
