Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

A Special Visit from Marley

Here at Mallard Court we had a very special visit from a new born baby boy called Marley.

Marley is the baby son of a Mallard Court carer, and he was an instance hit with everyone, receiving lots of cuddles from our residents and staff.

We love young children to visit us hers at Mallard Court, and in the new year we are introducing a new Toddler Group.

We will be  inviting the local Nurseries and mothers and their children, to enjoy activities and refreshments together with our residents.

Christmas Celebrations

Here at Mallard Court we had lots of fun on the run up to  Christmas.

We had visits from the local schools and children’s nurseries singing our favourite Christmas songs together.

We had visits from two cheeky Elves, our very own volunteer Grace ( who is such a popular member of the Activity Team) and photos with our Christmas picture frame.

Happy 105th Birthday Anne!

Here at Mallard Court we had a very special birthday as resident Anne Cormack celebrated her 105th birthday with family, residents and staff.

Anne said how much she enjoyed her birthday and thanked everyone for the beautiful flowers, presents and cards.

Anne’s secret to long life is healthy living and hard  work!

Congratulations from everyone at Mallard Court.

Meet the Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.  We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Lest We Forget

We had a heart-warming activity here at Mallard Court preparing a beautiful display of flowers for Remembrance Sunday.

We created together a lovely display to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who that have defended our freedoms, and protected our way of life.

We watched the ceremony on our big screen TV, and joined together for the 2 minute silence at 11am on Sunday morning.
