Activities at Mallard Court Care Home

We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!

We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.

We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Steve Moss

Lifestyle Coordinator

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.

We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.

We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Farewell Kim. Enjoy your retirement!

Here at Mallard Court it was a day of mixed emotions as we said a bonny farewell to Home Administrator Kim Bowley who retired on Friday 31st March.

Residents and staff sent Kim off in style with lots of presents and best wishes cards, thanking her for over 17 years of dedication and friendship.

Everyone at Mallard Court have fond memories of Kim over the years and she will be greatly missed by all, as Kim is a very kind, cheerful and warm hearted individual.

All the very best Kim in your retirement from everyone here at Mallard Court!

Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside...

Here at Mallard Court we are so fortunate to be so close to the seafront which includes panoramic beach views looking out to sea, the picturesque harbour with wide the variety of boats coming in and out, and not to forget the fabulous cliffs of Flamborough Head in the distance.

We love our walks out to the seafront or trips out in our very own Mini Bus and have a local hostelry called the “Lobster Pot”, which has a lovely ambience to enjoy a drink and meal inside, or outside in the lovely grounds.

International Women's Day

Here at Mallard Court we had a lovely day celebrating International Women’s Day with live musical entertainment with singer guitarist Simon Nisbett.

We created our very own eye-catching display featuring some famous women from around the world with some beautiful Tulips.

Mothers Day

Here at Mallard Court we celebrated the very special Mother’s Day with some lovely flower arrangements and creating an eye-catching window display together. There was delicious refreshments for everyone including homemade scones with jam, strawberries and cream.

The atmosphere was lovely and it was heart-warming to see our residents enjoying the day together with their families.

Historic Royal Palaces

Across our services, our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session.  Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!

We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.

The Arctic Airship Italia

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.

Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.

The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
