Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.

Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
International Women's Day
Here at Mallard Court we had a lovely day celebrating International Women’s Day with live musical entertainment with singer guitarist Simon Nisbett.
We created our very own eye-catching display featuring some famous women from around the world with some beautiful Tulips.
Mothers Day
Here at Mallard Court we celebrated the very special Mother’s Day with some lovely flower arrangements and creating an eye-catching window display together. There was delicious refreshments for everyone including homemade scones with jam, strawberries and cream.
The atmosphere was lovely and it was heart-warming to see our residents enjoying the day together with their families.
Historic Royal Palaces
Across our services, our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session. Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!
We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
The Arctic Airship Italia
Across our services we had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.
The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Live Musical Entertainment
Here at Mallard Court we love our music, especially live entertainment, and having a good old sing-a-long and dancing together.
We celebrated Buddy Holly’s birthday recently and decided to hold a 50’s & 60’s musical fortnight, as the music from this period is so popular with our residents.
Trips to the Bridlington Spotlight Theatre
Mallard Court residents enjoy their regular visits to the Bridlington Spotlight Theatre which is a lovely venue to watch classic Musicals on the giant screen and the Spotlight members are so friendly and welcoming.
In February we went to see the screening of the musical “ Mary Poppins” and we all agreed what a brilliant film it is.
We are really looking forward to our next visit on March 6th to see the musical “ Olkahoma! “ to have a good old sing a long together.
The Spotlight Theatre Company perform a wide variety of entertaining shows and events for the local community and are a very Dementia Friendly organisation.
