Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
Valentines Day Birthday
Here at Mallard Court in Bridlington resident Charlie Valentine Taylor celebrated his 91st birthday on Valentine’s Day with other residents, family and staff.
There was a delicious variety of Valentine decorated buns and biscuits with a beautiful birthday cake made by our very own Head Chef Gill.
Charlie commented “I have had a wonderful birthday and everyone has been so kind with all the lovely presents, Birthday and Valentines cards I have received”
Many happy returns Charlie.
Mechanic Charlie continues to live his younger years.
When having a chat with Charlie and filling some details in his “Getting to Know Me Booklet” he reminisced with us about his occupation as a Car Mechanic and Body shop repair specialist. He told us how much he enjoyed, and missed, stripping down engines and building parts up together again. We sourced a Mechanix Kit for Charlie to build with his friends, visitors and staff joining in.
Charlie informed us he was a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery working on heavy artillery and the big guns, tanks and heavy goods. Charlie also was a driving instructor teaching new drivers to handle the heavy goods vehicles.
Charlie commented how much fun he is having building the tank and helicopter with everyone.
We are organising a trip for Charlie to visit the Carnaby and Lisset War Memorials, and also a visit to a local garage and MOT centre at Lisset to have a look around and meet the mechanics.
Ball Games at Mallard Court
Here at Mallard Court Care Home ball games are very popular, with our residents, families and staff having fun together.
We enjoyed games of indoor bowling and we can’t wait to visit the Bowling Green on the seafront and to play outside in the fresh air in Springtime!
Arts and Crafts for Chinese New Year
We love our arts and craft session at Mallard Court, and its lovely to see our residents, their families and staff joining in together creating happy memories.
We really enjoyed colouring pictures of Chinese Dragons in preparation for the Chinese New Year party 2023!
Royal Parks London
Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.
Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.
The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Anne Celebrates her 104th Birthday!
Mallard Court resident, Anne Cormack, celebrated her 104th Birthday with her family, enjoying a special party in the Vintage Teraroom. Anne enjoyed a delicious buffet and a beautiful cake prepared by our chefs.
Born just one month after World War One had ended, Anne was the youngest of seven children. Her parents were farmers. Anne moved to Bridlington from Pontefract in 1963. Anne served in the Auxiliary Territorial Services (ATS) during the second World War. Anne tells us: "I learned to drive with the ATS at Camberley House - the same place Queen Elizabeth II had also learned to drive"
When asked the secret of reaching her 104th birthday, she commented: "I have always had a healthy lifestyle and always tried to keep busy with hard work and healthy living"
Anne has had a truly wonderful day celebrating with her family. Happy Birthday Anne!
