Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
Cinco De Mayo
Residents and staff celebrated a Mexican anniversary of the Mexican day ‘Cinco De Mayo’ as it marks the day in 1862, when President Benito Juarez sent troops to face the invading French army that was marching towards Mexico City.
It is celebrated with parades, battle re-enactments, mariachi music , traditional foods, piñatas and fireworks. It is a day to celebrate freedom and liberty. We had a fabulous afternoon with delightful Mexican music, viewing beautiful pictures of this interesting country, a bit of colourful dressing up and sampling the delicious dishes and Mocktails which our homes hospitality team especially prepared.

Conversations by the Pond
We had a lovely time joining Henry Slator for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘Conversations at the Pond’.
Henry had an unusual writing journey, which many of our residents found inspiring, he underwent chemotherapy in early 2020, which allowed him to rediscover his light-hearted outlook on life by imagining conversations with creatures in and around his large garden pond and adding buckets of fun.
The entertaining Conversations at the Pond, with its mass of colourful illustrations, took our residents along his journey, they felt inspired, cheered and loved hearing all about Henry’s experiences.
Leaf craft
We really enjoyed getting messy with our leaf crafting session, painting the back of the leaves in various bright colours and using them as stamps to create some beautiful designs.
We sourced the leaves from around the grounds of Mallard Court and we enjoyed some educational fun using an application on our tablet to identify the various bushes and trees.
Birthday celebrations
We love celebrating our residents birthdays here at Mallard Court, this week our lovely resident, Wendy celebrated her 88th years young birthday with a family visit in her room before celebrating with friends and colleagues in the home who presented the birthday girl with a delicious home-made birthday cake and treated her to a rousing rendition of happy birthday!
Wendy commented she had a wonderful day to remember with everybody including Pebbles the Pat Dog who visits most days. Happy birthday Wendy from everyone at Mallard Court!
Dog themed bingo
Residents and staff enjoyed lots of fun playing ‘Dog Bingo’ laughing and reminiscing about much their loved pets throughout their life and sharing funny stories about their furry friends.
Queens birthday celebrations
Here at Mallard Court we celebrated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s 96th birthday with some beautiful flower craft using gorgeous roses sourced locally.
We looked at pictures of our beloved Queen throughout her life and residents and staff chose their favourite pictures to create a lovely montage celebrating her life story
