Activities at Mallard Court Care Home
We provide a wide range of group activities and individual one to one activities to meet our residents needs including musical entertainers, PAT dog visits, minibus outings, themed events and much more!
We take a person centred approach when planning each individuals activities so they can achieve a feeling of self worth and well-being.
We hold monthly meetings with the residents and also regular meetings with their family and friends, discussing any ideas that they may have, and also any problems that their may have. Both of our activities coordinators, Steve and Lynne, have completed NAPA Activity Workers Level 2 Award training, and are continually seeking new ideas so we can ensure life in the home is as varied and interesting as possible. We encourage strong community links with the local schools, colleges and local charities in the community. Steve is supported also by his dogs, Tia, Pebbles and Oscar who give great pleasure to the residents in our home, and can often be seen either on a persons lap or being taken for a walk around the home. Many of the visitors that come into Mallard Court commented that it is so friendly and welcoming.
Steve Moss
Hi, my name is Steve, and I have been a Lifestyle Coordinator at Mallard Court since 2006, and have achieved the NAPA (National Association of Activity Providers) Level 2 Award in Activity Provision in the Care Sector.
We provide a wide range of activities for the people we support, as well as for their families and friends. I also love to have one-to-one chats with residents who like to reminisce about their lives over a cup of tea and some biscuits.
We have our own minibus and have fun days out sight-seeing, having a picnic or going a local pub for a drink and a meal. We also arrange for local artists to provide musical entertainment for everyone at Mallard Court.

Life at Mallard Court Care Home
The Astor's
Our residents came together to enjoy an exciting virtual talk courtesy of the team at National Trust Talks Service. The illustrated talk took us closer to one of Cliveden’s most famous families, the Astors. Our residents were able to discover what motivated William Waldorf Astor, America’s richest man, to purchase Cliveden in 1893 and how the estate became the centre of high society in the 1920 s and 30 s thanks to his son Waldorf and daughter in law Nancy Astor.
The Wallace Collection
We had a lovely time joining Holly and Marie-Therese from the Wallace Collection, for a virtual introduction to the Collection, followed by a sensory exploratory walk through one of the museum’s most famous landscape paintings. The Collection ranges from Old Master paintings to 18th century French furniture, arms and armour. We all had a wonderful time and cannot wait to put our creative skills to a test and paint some landscapes in the upcoming days.
Magical mystery tour
Our residents love getting out and about on the homes mini-bus to enjoy taking in the wonderful views, coastline and countryside that is nearby. Our magical mystery tours are always very popular especially as we frequently enjoy a refreshing pit stop to enjoy delicious fish and chips followed by ice-cream and a refreshing cup of tea!
Holi Festival
We celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi, which is famously known as the Festival of Colours, in style.
Holi is a fun-packed holiday that marks the end of winter and the start of spring, it focuses on love and new life.
Our residents spent time learning more about the Hindu traditions, temples and the festival itself.
As Holi is one of the messiest holidays, celebrated by throwing of colourful powder paint and coloured water along with singing and dancing, we all enjoyed watching celebrations from all over the word and we even organised our own version of the festival.
Nutrition and Hydration Week
Our residents and staff took part in this year’s Nutrition and Hydration Week. Throughout the week, we focused on fun-filled educational activities on the value of food and drink in maintaining health and wellbeing, sensory and tasting sessions.
Members of our talented hospitality team prepared delicious mocktails and fresh nutritious dishes, containing super snacks, fruit salads and smoothies for all to enjoy. A fabulous time was had by all.
St Patrick's Day
Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day in recognition of the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland.
The home was decorated with shamrocks and we all enjoyed exploring the Irish culture through a variety of themed activities.
Our talented chef prepared a fantastic spread of traditional Irish dishes for all to enjoy, all washed down with Guinness and Irish whiskey.
