Activities at The Manor Care Home

Our activities staff are here 7 days a week and are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for in a group or individual basis. From trips to garden centres, the theatre, and flower shows to personal shopping and attending family events. We also love organising Christmas fairs, our famous classic car show, musicians, entertainment, and pizza and pint evenings. The team encourage families to visit and work closely with our volunteers to ensure that our residents social care is a priority, so that they have a fun filled and enriched stay whilst here at The Manor.

Marc Chidgey

Life Enrichment Lead

I have worked at The Manor since 2012, starting out as a kitchen assistant, where I replenished drinks and snacks and assisted in serving meals in communal areas. During this time, outside of the kitchen, I enjoyed meeting residents and took pleasure in seeing their engagement during activities. My interest in resident activities was evident, and I was offered the opportunity to transfer to the activities team.

I love to spend time with residents. I enjoy hearing their stories and finding out what activities interest them. I aim to keep them as active as possible, and my top priority is to instill fun and laughter at The Manor.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Volunteer Appreciation Day

Volunteer celebration BBQ turned into a whole home affair. Word spread fast the BBQ was alight and burgers / sausages were cooking nicely.

Weather was lovely and we have a great time in the garden saying thank you to many of our volunteers who support the home in lots of ways. We appreciate them and thank them wholeheartedly.

Make A Difference Finalist

Here is our favourite furry friend Bracken doing what he does best, bringing joy to us all. We are all so proud off  him and we have our fingers crossed for him to win the Make a Difference Award but whatever the outcome in September he's always our number one. 7 years he has been wagging his tail here and we're so grateful to have him.

I do like to be beside the seaside

The weather was just to good to not spend the day at the seaside. We spent a lads afternoon at Blue Anchor, we enjoyed some fish and chips, walked along the beach and enjoyed a delicious ice cream. We met one off our nurses at the beach and spent some time with her gorgeous dog Honey.

Manors 35th Birthday

Our birthday party was a great success yesterday. We welcomed old and new employees, family and friends, residents and professionals. Thank you Marion for leading the community choir and thanks again to Blackdown Acapella for a wonderful performance. Including the happy birthday to Jenny  which she loved along with her whole family.

The residents will be enjoying the beautiful birthday cake made by our own talented hostess Cynthia.

Safety First

Brian our lovely gentleman has always been very cautious about cars hitting these stones at night time. So today we set out to rectify this by painting the stones white. He has done an amazing job with this and enjoyed being a groundsman for the day.
