Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sarah Yarney

Activities Coordinator

I have worked with the elderly for more than forty years in various roles, gaining varied knowledge and experience. I have been a relative at Marnel Lodge for ten years and worked as an admin assistant for a year and a half. I have now taken on the exciting role of Activities Coordinator at Marnel Lodge and I am looking forward to working with the residents, families and the Marnel team to start some new activities and adventures.

Partnership with Dunelm

National home furnishing retailer, Dunelm, decided to pair up with nursing homes across the country. Our management met with Cathy, project executor of Dunelm, which was very productive and encouraging. Such partnerships are so welcome and we are planning fantastic events together.

Birthday Week

We have celebrated the birthdays of our lovely residents, Vera and Claire. There wish was to see their familes, and we made that wish come true. There were lots of cakes and sweets and, of course, happiness.

World Chocolate Day

On Tuesday 7th July, we celebrated World Chocolate Day by testing a variety of different makes and flavours. It was a very enjoyable day full off happiness and sweetness, of course.

Community Together

Our local community support group never rests and is always ready to help others. Our team received fantastic gifts from our support networks. It’s so encouraging to know that people care for others in such a difficult time. True friends in need are friends indeed.

Father's Day

For the very first time since lockdown begun, our lovely relatives could reunite with their dads. It was a very special day for everybody and made such a big difference to the well-being of all. We ensured that current guidance of safety and social distancing was followed. We are all pleased with such a positive outcome! Happy Father’s Day to all our dads in Marnel.

National Beer Day

Residents enjoyed National Beer Day. There were a variety of beers, lagers and ales to please our ladies and gentleman. It was a great day outdoor with plenty of fun and happiness.
