Activities at Marnel Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Sarah Yarney

Activities Coordinator

I have worked with the elderly for more than forty years in various roles, gaining varied knowledge and experience. I have been a relative at Marnel Lodge for ten years and worked as an admin assistant for a year and a half. I have now taken on the exciting role of Activities Coordinator at Marnel Lodge and I am looking forward to working with the residents, families and the Marnel team to start some new activities and adventures.

Life at Marnel Lodge Care Home

St Patrick's Day

Our lovely residents celebrated St Patrick’s Day recently. There was lots of traditional Irish music and dancing, of course. It was great fun for all!

Out & About

Our lovely residents spontaneously said last week that they wanted to go for a drive, so we said, "let's do it." It was calm and refreshing—a wonderful time!

10 Day Sport Challenge

Most of our residents joined in with the 10 Day Sport Challenge. All residents received a certificate with a box of chocolates as a reward for their accomplishments. It was great, healthy fun!

Indoor Gardening

With a little help from our Maintenance Manager Keith, we had a great surprise for our Resident Ambassador, Peter, who loves gardening and is currently maintaining a large outdoor garden: we created an indoor garden for Peter and other residents to grown their own fruits and veg all year round. It was great to see Peter so happy!

Chinese New Year Celebrations

Marnel Community celebrated Chinese New Year on 25th of January 2020. Our celebration started from one minute of silence to honour all people who lost their lives due to Coronavirus outbreak. Our Residents enjoyed festive time and of course great food. Celebration of Chinese New Year took place in our cinema room, which enabled us to watch live celebration from Beijing.

New Year's Day

Residents enjoyed celebrating New Year’s Day with musician Neal. There was lots of singing along and dancing!
