Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Cedar Ministry Returns

Cedar Ministry Returns

Marriott House and Lodge continues to have monthly visits from Cedar Ministry. These services are always well attended by residents and visitors.

Cedar Ministry began visiting the home on the first Sunday of every month back in 2012. They are a team from Chichester Baptist Church who visit local care homes in the Chichester area. It is their aim to share God's love and serve people in local care homes.

For more information about Cedar Ministry, please contact Guy Applebee at Chichester Baptist Church on 01243 782585 or via info@chichesterbaptist.org.uk.

Alive Activities

Alive Activities

Marriott House and Lodge were delighted to have the wonderful Alive Activities join us on Thursday 6th July at 11:00 a.m.

The variety hour session included music, poetry, dance and movement and provided non-obvious exercise routines (seated or unseated) using current affairs, literature and iPads to engage people and stimulate memories, discussions and fun.

Because of their person-centred and user-led approach, each and every session is unique, varied and full of character – there’s something for everyone!

What makes these sessions innovative is that residents are encouraged to guide and dictate the content of the sessions wherever possible. For many, it’s a chance to express themselves, get involved and be heard. The consistencies within these sessions are that they will always encourage interaction, laughter, fun, and meaningful, stimulating experiences.

Community Cream Tea Afternoon

Community Cream Tea Afternoon

On Tuesday 4th July, Marriott Lodge opened its doors to the community for a cream tea afternoon and musical entertainment from Lyndsey Walker. The afternoon was enjoyed by many!

An American Journey

An American Journey

Penny from Creative Talks visited the home on Thursday 6th July at 11:00 a.m. to give a talk entitled 'An American Journey'. This presentation took a look at some of the sights, sounds and culture of America. Everyone was transported through time using interactive pictures, video and music! The talk provoked lots of discussion and reminiscence.

The next talk will be on Thursday 7th September at 11:00 a.m. and will be about the 'Castles & Palaces of the World'.

Wrong Trousers Day

Wrong Trousers Day

You would have been forgiven for thinking that staff at Marriott House and Lodge had gotten dressed in the dark on Friday 30th June!

Several of them were sporting their pyjamas; others were in shorts, jodhpurs and some very colourful trousers.

It was all in aid of 'Wrong Trousers Day', a national fund-raising effort for the Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Foundation, supporting children in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.
