Activities at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home

Our Work Experience Student

Our Work Experience Student

We were very lucky to have Nina, a Dutch student, working with us for her internship from the beginning of May through to the end of June. Nina worked with the activities staff and became part of the team at Marriott House.

On her last day, the residents requested a party for Nina to celebrate all the work she did; they had helped to make a special photo memory book for Nina for her to take home. This included photos of activities and events that Nina had been involved with during her time at Marriott House. Nina also left some ‘Dutch’ gifts for staff and residents to enjoy.

Care Home Open Day

We opened our doors to the community for an open day. In the morning, we had our regular visit from Portfield Primary School and played games in the garden.

After this, visitors, residents and staff members joined us for a morning of master classes, which included flower arranging, baking, poetry, wine tasting, games and much more. These were to give a taste of just some of the regular activities that are on offer in the home.

We also enjoyed a 'Cabaret and Cocktails' afternoon that included some excellent musical entertainment from Karen Etherington.

Pamper Afternoon

Pamper Afternoon

We hold regular pamper afternoons, where residents can come along and have a mini manicure or foot spa. These afternoons are always well-attended and enjoyed by everyone.

Fundraising Week

We celebrated Fundraising Week (12th to 17th June) with a teddy bear's picnic and raffle.

Everyone involved enjoyed themselves and loved celebrating. Staff enjoyed a dress down day and made a donation to the foundation.

Staff and residents brought along their teddy bears for the day and we also held a raffle to raise money and awareness for the charity.
