Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Residents had the pleasure of welcoming Michaela from Musical Memories into their home today, to entertain them all with songs of the past.

Everyone was singing along and dancing in their seats, with family joining us also. We can’t wait for their next visit!

Birthday celebrations are a firm feature within the homes life enrichment programme and this month was no exception as we celebrated, Winnie's birthday.

Winnie enjoyed her birthday, spending time with her friends and family, and enjoyed her home made cake at tea time and a rousing rendition of 'Happy birthday'.

Our Head Housekeeper has received a prestigious 20 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 20 years.

Susan Milner, now Head Housekeeper started at Barchester in August 2004 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years. Meadow Park are delighted Susan has been recognised for her loyalty and commitment and the team for her passion and dedication.

Staff and residents are celebrating because their wonderful Managing Director, Fiona Fagan, from Barchester’s North East and Scotland Division, has stepped completely out of her comfort zone to compete in the Barchester Charitable Foundation Cook Off 2024.

Fiona went head-to-head with the Managing Directors from Barchester’s four other divisions and cooked up a storm to raise a phenomenal £24,595 for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation which helps connect vulnerable people and those living with a disability to community groups in their local area by providing grants to improve mobility and quality of life.  Each year the Foundation distributes thousands of pounds to individuals, small community groups and charities across England, Scotland and Wales.  

We have celebrated World Chocolate Day today at Meadow Park, with Mars Bars, Twirls and Galaxy a plenty, residents from all three communities came together and tucked in to tasty treats whilst jogging their memory’s with a chocolate picture quiz, where everyone was a winner… then a Big Chocolate general knowledge Quiz, where Freda was our chocoholic scoring the most correct answers.

Mandy served up some delicious Mini Black Forest Gateaux, Chocolate Rice Krispies, and Chocolate Berry Flan for everyone to enjoy, with Hot Chocolates to wash them down

World Chocolate Day has to be one of the best days to celebrate

Residents ventured to our local Salvation Army Centre today, to meet with MIND Active and other Care Homes for a celebration of the 4th of July

The 4th of July… more commonly known as ‘Independence Day’ is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776

Residents enjoyed a pie and pea lunch with cheesecake to finish, a quiz, with Nan and Mary scoring an impressive 7 out of 8, Betty won the raffle and everybody enjoyed singing and dancing to live entertainment which was brilliant as always

Our favourite part of our trip out was making new friends, residents came together with residents from other homes, and made friends with a lovely couple of ladies from Ashington Grange
