Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

100th Birthday

On the 16th of March 2011, our lovely Violet came to live with us here at Meadow Park, a character to say the least, popular with her friends, and always willing to help. Violet loved the Be-Ro Book and shopping at John Lewis, a very proud family lady, who always talked about her children and grandchildren.

Born 100 years ago in 1923, when King George V ruled the United Kingdom, Insulin was introduced to treat diabetes and it cost 1p for a pint of milk.

Violet celebrated with all of her family at Meadow Park, where they all shared fond memories to mark this occasion, with a tea party and a bottle of bubbly. Violet also received a card from King Charles and Queen Camilla.

World Chocolate Day

National ice cream day went down a treat at Meadow Park. Our local ice cream man ‘Skippy’s Whippys’ came to serve us the most delicious Mr Whippy ice cream, smothered in monkeys blood and topped with a Cadburys chocolate flake.

Residents have loved being able to go out to the ice cream man and get an ice cream, everyone was delighted at the sound of his chime when he entered the car park, it sure did bring back lots of happy memories.

Dogs Trust

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Carers Week

Meadow Park celebrated and recognised its carers for carers week, our carers can be life savers to our residents, from personal care to general chit chat, carers are a lifeline to millions and for some all they have in the world. Our care team were treat, by a member of the local community, to a quick pamper session, whether it be a mini facial or hand massage, it was much appreciated. Staff also enjoyed a delicious Chocolate hamper, given by Barchester.

World Ocean Day

A tremendous day had by all for world ocean day on the Northumberland coastline. Resident Lillian was born and bred in the ‘friendliest port of Amble’ and has longed to go back, so off we went for a day out in Amble. We walked with Lillian and other residents along the pier, and the little shore where Lillian has fond memories from her childhood. We ventured onto nearby Warkworth to see its famous castle, then stopped off for ice cream, at Morwick Mill Ice Cream Parlour, where we came up close and personal with its calf’s who produce the milk for the dairy.
