Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

Easter celebrations

We hope you had a hoppy Easter! We celebrated Easter in style with a whole host of themed activities and egg-cellent entertainment.

Our residents enjoyed decorating the home, enjoying hot cross buns and a special visit from our Easter bunny.

In recognition of the day, our talented chef prepared a delicious feast for all to enjoy, as always, we’ve had an amazing time.

Residents enjoy Easter Egg Run

Residents and staff at Meadow Park care home, in Bedlington recently enjoyed going outside to support over 400 local lads who rode out around Northumberland collecting money and chocolate eggs to give to local charities, ensuring no children were without this Easter.

Residents from across the homes communities enjoyed getting together and soaking up the early spring sunshine, clapping and cheering them on as they drove past.

Beat The Clock

We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.

Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.

Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Inside the Factory

We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.

Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

Full Food Circle

Today our residents were joined by Gill and Diane from ‘Full Circle Food’ in Ashington, who demonstrated making a ‘Devonshire Split’

Residents were eager to get their hands dirty and enjoyed making one for themselves, then devoured them with a nice cup of tea whilst looking through some very old ‘Bero Books’ and chatting about what recipes they used to enjoy making.

This has been our first of many visits from Full Circle Food, we can’t wait for our next session and what we can make next.

World Book Day

In recognition of ‘World Book Day’ our wonderful staff have thrown a ‘Mad Hatters Tea Party’ which incorporated our Third Dementia Cafe too.

With Alice, The Mad Hatters and The Queen Of Hearts, staff put on a fabulous display, with all three of our communities coming together to enjoy homemade treats from our fantastic Mandy and Kerry, all washed down with a nice cup of tea

It was lovely to see our families supporting as always, and everyone enjoyed a sing a long

Residents and staff also sang Happy Birthday to Head Chef Mandy.

World Book Day is a national celebration of books and reading, and a perfect excuse for us for a dress up and a bit of a party.
