Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Independence Day

Residents ventured to our local Salvation Army Centre today, to meet with MIND Active and other Care Homes for a celebration of the 4th of July

The 4th of July… more commonly known as ‘Independence Day’ is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776

Residents enjoyed a pie and pea lunch with cheesecake to finish, a quiz, with Nan and Mary scoring an impressive 7 out of 8, Betty won the raffle and everybody enjoyed singing and dancing to live entertainment which was brilliant as always

Our favourite part of our trip out was making new friends, residents came together with residents from other homes, and made friends with a lovely couple of ladies from Ashington Grange

Exploring the Eden Project

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time exploring the Eden Project virtually - an educational charity and visitor attraction based in Cornwall, featuring sprawling outdoor gardens and breathtaking biomes that house the largest indoor rainforest in the world.

During the session, residents who joined were reconnected with nature through their senses, memories and stories.  A big thank you to the community team at the Eden Project for the wonderful event.

Cheese and Wine

Residents have had a lovely evening sampling Spicy, Wensleydale with Cranberries, Cheddar, Double Gloucestershire with chives, cheeses, alongside some ‘Red Red Wine’ to wash it down. Of course when the drinks were flowing everyone has been up on their feet singing to some classic oldies, and the staff couldn’t help themselves too. Some of us were able to take our evening outdoors where the sun is still shining. We love evenings like this at Meadow Park, moods are humble and everyone is having a lovely time

National Fish & Chip Day

Residents celebrated ‘National Fish And Chip’ day, with traditional home cooked fish in batter, with home-made chips, topped with lashings of salt and vinegar, tomato or tartar sauce.

And what goes better with fish & chips… a Mr Whippy 99 - with monkeys blood and a chocolate flake!   We invited local ice cream man ‘Skippy’s Whippy’s’ to Meadow Park and after lunch, residents we’re delighted to go over to the van choosing what they wanted, with the most common choice being a 99.

Everyone devoured their ice cream, with Shirley saying ‘it’s been years since I’ve had a Mr Whippy, and from the van as well”. It went down a treat with all of our lovely residents, and staff.

A Royal knees up

Residents at Meadow Park enjoyed a right ‘Royal knees up’, celebrating HM King Charles birthday. King Charles III was born on the 14th November 1948, but like many other Monarchs, has another birthday earlier in the year, to maximise the chances of better weather for ‘Trooping The Colour’. Residents had a traditional afternoon tea party, with a sing a long, and lots of their favourite light bites, washed down with a glass of their favourite tipple - wines and beers.

Glass painting

Residents had the greatest pleasure of trying something new. Mind Active visited today with a lovely artist to complete the painting of Stained Glass Windows. Lots of excitement and chatter throughout the session, and many beautiful pieces created.
