Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

Meeting the Reindeers

Across our homes we got into the Christmas spirit of things by joining a festive live virtual experience, led by Des and Kelly from Performing Pets.

Our residents were thrilled to meet the charming furry friends and get up close and personal with the reindeers.

We certainly learnt some interesting facts about the animals and had a fantastic time.

Festive Garden Centre trip

Residents have been out gallivanting again, today to Plants Plus in Ponteland.

We boarded the bus and sang Christmas songs all the way there, to get us in the mood, before browsing all the Christmas decorations and gifts.

We popped into the pet shop, and seen lots of weird and wonderful animals, some we haven’t seen before.

We came across two donkeys called Whisper and Rolo, who we enjoyed petting, then stopped for a cup of tea and piece of cake, where we bumped into a local celebrity Danny Adams, who is known for his star roll in the Newcastle Theatre Royal pantomime every Christmas.

What a day, we are all star struck

Mind Active Christmas Party

Residents have loved getting out in the community, to our local Salvation Army Centre, for the annual MIND Active Christmas party, we even brought along our naughty elf to keep him out of mischief.

Residents were welcomed with Christmas music and a live singer, indulged in a delicious buffet lunch, and our lovely Mary even won the raffle.

We love to be able to get out in the community and socialise with other homes, have a dance and let our hair down.

Remembrance Day

Residents took to the streets of Bedlington, to remember and pay their respects this Remembrance Sunday.

We ventured up to the local Cenotaph, to say prayers and watch wreaths being laid in memory of those that lost their life’s for us, we also sang ‘God save the King’

Remembrance Sunday, is marked across the country every year, and we are really proud to be able to congregate with the local community again this year, and pay our respects.

Mind Active Christmas Party

Today we ventured to Blyth football club, to join MIND Active and the community for another wonderful Christmas Party.

We were greeted with a Buck’s Fizz reception, everyone feeling a little merry, piped in by a Northumberland Piper.

Then devoured a three course lunch, home made broth, Christmas Dinner and Cheesecake for pudding, with most of us having seconds! We then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon, with live entertainment, a quiz, and a raffle, with three of us winning a prize

Our residents look forward to these outings, Mind Active do a wonderful job, their staff and volunteers make our residents feel welcome and ensure we all have a great time.
