Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Christmas themed Panto!
Our residents were treated to a special Christmas themed pantomime performance of Annie.
Everyone enjoyed the timeless tale full of magical twists, fun, laughter and adventures. We would like to say a big Thank you to kay, one of our family members for stepping in and doing a marvellous job of playing the part of Daddy Warbucks.
It was wonderful to see how much our residents interacted throughout the show with everyone clapping and singing along as laughter filled the room. After the performance we all sang a selection of carols together and enjoyed festive mince pies.
We all had a wonderful evening.
Come on England!
A great atmosphere in the home this afternoon as we decorated the home with flags and bunting ready for the World cup 2022, what a great start as residents and team members came together to watch England V Iran game, with a fantastic 6 - 2 result.
Everyone had a great afternoon as cheering filled the room as they waved their flags in the air, celebrating afterwards with a refreshing beer.
King Charles' Birthday Celebrations
We celebrated the birthday of King Charles and decorated our home for the special occasion. Our residents were treated to an afternoon tea party where they enjoyed delicious cakes and savoury delicacies, prepared by our talented chef. Our residents were surprised to get an important guest arrive, when King Charles himself joined us for tea and cake, residents also took part in themed quizzes.
Autumnal and Halloween displays
We have been busy here at Meadowbeck making a start on our autumn displays for around the home and painting pumpkins in preparation for Halloween. We had a lovely afternoon chatting about all the beautiful vibrant autumn colours as the leaves change, autumn skies and pumpkin pies.
Afternoon tea and sing-a-long
This afternoon we held an afternoon tea with delicious homemade treats including scones with cream and jam. The afternoon went down a treat as residents were joined by families and friends to enjoy a sing along with Les, to a selection of well-known cheerful songs. It was lovely to welcome Les, back into the home and to have Julie, a reader at our village church join us for the afternoon. A wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all as conversations flowed.
Cheese and wine evening
Residents had a great time at our cheese and wine evening. Where they got to try a selection of tasty cheeses accompanied with a selection of wines to suit all individuals’ preferences from a crisp white, light rose or a fruity red, alcohol free beverages were on offer for those that prefer.
This was a fantastic evening for our residents to come together and socialise, enjoy each other’s company and an ideal time for Ken’s wife to join us to help celebrate her birthday. A great evening enjoyed by all, it was lovely to hear the cheerful chatter that flowed.
