Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Life at Meadowbeck Care Home
‘Herstory’ of Mayfair
Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.
We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas. The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Exercise to music
Residents from around the home came together this afternoon to take part in their u-Sit fitness class with Mark, the class is a gentle chair based exercise to music session.
After a gentle warm up exercise Mark introduced a tabata workout, and our residents enjoyed trying something new.
This is always a very popular and enjoyable class that is good for our residents, and is always adapted for all individuals’ abilities, great for our resident’s well-being, independence and self-worth.
We had a great afternoon and it was nice to have new faces join us for the first time and they thoroughly enjoyed it, not forgetting those family members who came along also.
History of Wall's icecream
Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.
Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.
School Choir
This afternoon we were delighted to welcome back Mrs Feehan and her wonderful choir from St Aelred's Catholic Primary School & Nursery, who entertained our residents, staff and family members giving us a wonderful performance.
Everyone were in absolute awe as they sang beautifully, and the children brought such joy to our residents, bringing lots of smiles to their faces, it was lovely to see.
We had an absolutely wonderful afternoon.
Cream Tea Day
Today we had a wonderful afternoon as we celebrated National Cream Tea Day in style.
Our residents were treated to a delicious afternoon cream tea, with Les here to entertain us playing old time favourite sing along classics.
It was lovely to have family members and loved ones come along and join us, and of course no afternoon tea is complete without a nice cuppa tea and yummy cream scone (or two).
It was a lovely afternoon with everyone having a good old sing along with Les.
A dogs life
Across of homes residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.
Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
