Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Residents had a lovely time at our Christmas movie night, watching their favourite Christmas movie, White Christmas.
We all got comfortable in the lounge, turned the lights low leaving the twinkling lights on the Christmas tree, as we enjoyed a mug of delicious hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows, and a selection of little festive treats including gingerbread men, reindeer biscuits, German chocolate and ginger stars and candy canes.
A wonderful evening enjoyed by all with Tina our Activities Coordinator.

A great time had by all at our Baubles and Bubbles evening, where residents got creative making their own decorations to give to their families and to hang on the tree, whilst they got to enjoy a glass of bubbles or two.

Some went for their preferred festive tipple of Baileys or tot of Brandy, this was a lovely evening enjoyed by all with lots of laughter.

Residents were delighted to welcome Sarah back in to our home for a wonderful Christmas carols performance.
Sarah, who is a grade 5 Flute is a very popular visitor with our lovely residents, having visited the home for many years with the brownies in the past.
Sarah, this afternoon, performed a few traditional Carols to which residents sang along to Silver Bells, Let it snow, and In the bleak midwinter, Sarah then sang, The first Nowell and Silent Night with such a beautiful singing voice.
Once Sarah had said her goodbyes to the group, she then went around the home playing in corridors and to those who are unable to attend a group got to enjoy their very own mini solo performance joined by their family members.
Joyce invited Sarah back to play for her, Joan was delighted how it brought back school day memories for her and Sadie was conducting in the corridor.
It was wonderful to see such joy it brought to our residents.

We were delighted to welcome back the children from St Aelreds primary school choir, who gave our residents a wonderful performance of Christmas carols.

Residents, their families and team members were in absolute awe of their angelic voices as they sang beautifully, it was lovely to see the smiles and how the children lit up the faces of our wonderful residents.

Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester.  Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care.  They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide.  The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
