Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Tina Holmes
Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Nescafe virtual experience
We had a fabulous time joining NESCAFÉ’s virtual coffee experience. We were able to look into how they sustainably farm their coffee beans, as well as, to have a virtual tour of one of their factories all from the comfort of our home.
To make things even more interesting, our residents had the chance to test their knowledge with an interactive quiz, and to the delight of all to taste the signature Sweet Cinnamon Shaken Iced Coffee cocktail.
Bowling fun
Bowling fun right up our residents alley! Lots of cheering, oohing and aahing filled the room as residents showed their competitive sides, seeing who could score the most strikes whilst having a game of ten pin bowling. These games bring so much fun bringing a smile to everyone’s face and a great way to build friendships whilst keeping us active.

Our home was filled with flowers, cards, balloons and decorations as we celebrated the day of love in style with sweet treats and gifts. We marked the day by staging a themed photo shoot with our Valentines frame and sending the lovely photos to families and friends; residents enjoyed showing their creative side making spiral hearts to hang around the home.
Our residents had the opportunity to taste delicious themed sweet and savoury treats, prepared by our talented chef as they got together for our afternoon tea with a glass pf prosecco whilst listening to all-time favourite love songs and sharing stories of romantic moments in people’s lives. It was a lovely day and it was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get involved with the day’s festivities.
