Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.
I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.
I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies
Life at Meadowbeck Care Home
National Trust talk
Our homes had a fantastic time joining National Trust Talks Service team at Cliveden House for an inspirational talk on Nancy Astor – the first woman to take a seat in the House of Commons.
Our residents had the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating life of Nancy and her political career. As the first women MP, she experienced both attention and scandal throughout her life, which led to many triumphs and numerous disasters. The talk was truly enjoyed by all.
Ferndown florist demo
Our homes had a lovely time joining Sue and Nicole from Ferndown Florist for an intriguing flower arrangement workshop in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Our residents enjoyed a wonderful virtual demonstration and got inspired to create their own flower posies for our Jubilee displays. Our home will be specially decorated for the upcoming festivities. Stay tuned.
Jubilee celebrations fit for a Queen
Excitement has been running high at Meadowbeck Care Home in Osbaldwick where residents and staff have been busy making Jubilee-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of head chef Robert in preparation for the Jubilee.
Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a Queen. Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a garden party with live music entertainment and afternoon tea with a selection of delicious sweet and savoury treats. The whole home came together to celebrate our longest reigning monarch and reminisce about what she means to each and every one of us.
Pottering in the garden
Residents and team members have been busy in the garden. John and Violet who are keen gardeners and love the outdoors were a big help tidying and planting the bedding plants in the raised beds, whilst other residents enjoyed sitting relaxing with a coffee as they enjoyed watching them get their hands dirty.
Residents choose what flowers and colours they would like to see in the garden and they are looking forward to seeing how they grow, taking care of them daily. It was a lovely afternoon enjoyed by all and we were lucky we had a little sunshine on the day. We finished the afternoon with a well-deserved coffee break.
Crystal Palace Chronicles
We had a lovely time joining Graham Whitlock for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘The Crystal Palace Chronicles: Star of Nimrod’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fictional character Joe, who went on a rollercoaster adventure travelling back in time to the heyday of Victorian Crystal Palace.
Everyone had lots of fun during the virtual talk, as Graham took them on a clever and hilarious adventure. A great time was had by all.
Village Walk
Making the most of the lovely weather enjoying the sunshine with a morning walk around the village taking in our local beauty. It was lovely to stop and say hello to friendly neighbours along the way as we admired their beautiful gardens and flowers, making new furry friends also as they came to say hello for a fuss in return.
