Activities at Melbourn Springs Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is a major focus of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat will always be welcomed.

Christmas Dinner at The Pheasant

We were very grateful to receive an invite to attend the Nutwood Community Christmas Lunch at The Pheasant in Great Chishall.
The residents enjoyed a full Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings and it was lovely to see so many new faces and make new friends. We very much look forward to returning the kind gesture in the New Year.

Festive Therapy Pets

For the last time this year, we were very lucky to be treated with a visit from Pebbles the Therapy Pony and Bonnie the Dog. Pebbles was dressed in her Christmas outfit and took time to see all of the residents either in the main lounge area or in the residents' room.

We all absolutely love these visits and everybody at Melbourn Springs would like to thank Graeme and Lauren for making these visits happen.

We cannot wait to see Pebbles and Bonnie in the New Year.

A very special Carol Service

Yesterday we were very privileged to be joined by pupils from Melbourn Primary School along with their teachers for an extra special Christmas Carol service. There were over 50 pupils at Melbourn Springs and they treated us to all of the traditional carols. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance and joined in with all of the songs. To ensure that nobody missed out, the children even went to residents that were in their rooms to sing for them as well. This was another memorable occasion at Melbourn Springs and we are so thankful for the school for taking the time to be with our residents.

Return of the Banjo Man

We were treated to an afternoon of music with an old favourite of Melbourn Springs, The Banjo Man. It was another excellent performance but this time it was with a little twist, as he was accompanied by his daughter who played the violin alongside him and we have to say, she was amazing.
The residents thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and we are all looking forward to seeing them both again soon.
Music is always at the heart of what we do here at Melbourn Springs and whilst the methods and mediums may change, the heart of live music - the communal joy, the shared emotions, the collective energy - remains untouched.

Nativity time

Our lovely ladies were invited to Melbourn Primary School to watch their brilliant Nativity Play. They had the most wonderful time and the children were fantastic.
We have more intergenerational activity this week with Little Wiggles coming to us on Wednesday as well as Melbourn Primary School coming in to sing Carols in the Ashmead red lounge, also on Wednesday. Chuck in a visit from Pebbles the Therapy Pony on Tuesday and Imagination Dance CIC on Thursday and it's another very busy week at Melbourn Springs.

A Christmas Carol to remember

In a month that is always full of surprises, there was something extra special going on at Melbourn Springs.
The residents were treated to a performance of A Christmas Carol. This wasn't any old performance though.....it was a live stream direct from The Old Vic Theatre in London. The cast was very impressive and the residents absolutely loved the performance.
One of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program is live entertainment so to be able to do this for our residents was simply amazing and will remembered for a long time.
