Activities at Milford House Care Home
The Activities Team at Milford House are dedicated to providing a range of stimulating activities for both groups and individuals, that promote both physical and mental wellbeing based upon resident's interests both past and present. As a member of the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) the team are always striving to incorporate best practice into the array of activities on offer and to enhance their own skills through qualification with NAPA to NVQ Level 3 in Activities Provision. The team combine weekly activity favourites such as sherry mornings with special events, musical entertainments, slide shows, outings in our own mini-bus as well as interacting with local community groups such as Plain Arts Salisbury to showcase resident art and creativity and others who come into the home to interact with our residents. Milford House also benefits from a strong network of volunteers who support the Activity Team as they deliver their programme and who, along with friends and relatives, are always welcome to come and join in our sessions and outings.
Kylie Colman
Kylie has three years experience as an Activities Co-Ordinator and has loved every moment! Having recently joined the Milford team she is looking forward to getting to know all our residents and to delivering, alongside the rest of the team, an interesting and diverse programme of activities. She loves being outside and in particular organising trips out of the home and activities and events that take place in our gorgeous gardens.

Life at Milford House Care Home
Alpaca Adventures at Milford
The adorable alpaca duo Almond and Caramac visited Milford with their handler Wendy and brought a smile to everyone they met! Perfectly behaved, they toured the home greeting residents in a packed Conservatory and meeting others in their rooms. Nothing fazed them as they did the rounds to admiring pats from residents and visitors alike. It was a fabulous afternoon and we were all sad to see them depart - they really were the perfect guests. Thank you Wendy, Almond and Caramac - come again soon!
Spring Inspiration for Residents
Inspired by the warmer weather and the flowers popping up in the garden residents had a session flower arranging and creating lovely butterflies to go with them. Over the weekend we had seen a few butterflies about in the garden and hopefully this means that summer is truly on the way - but rather than leave it to chance we created our own indoor spring! The colours are gorgeous and lift the spirits. We had some visitors joining in as well to see what was going on which was lovely.
Easter Celebrations at Milford House
Residents really got into the fun of Easter as eggs and treats did the rounds on Easter Day (including non-chocolate alternatives!). Our dining tables looked suitably festive for the delicious traditional Easter lunch cooked by our chefs, which included the most yummy looking mini egg cheesecake for pudding. There was an Easter visit from Father David for blessings as well as lots of visitors to the home and gardens all of whom enjoyed the most gorgeous sunny day.
Easter Surprise as Chicks Arrive!
The entire staff team at Milford House Care Home were surprised and delighted to each receive an adorable hand-made Easter chick treat box filled with chocolate as a thank you from the daughter of one of our residents. The little boxes are such fun and everyone was in awe of the amount of time and effort that went into creating nearly 100 of them! As the smiles demonstrate, everyone was hugely appreciative and, as they found their way to each staff member they spread a little ray of Easter sunshine and the residents loved seeing thm too. When we got in touch to say thank you we were told “You are all very welcome - it’s nothing compared to what you all do each and every day for our relatives. Happy Easter everyone.”
Celebrating Mothers Day
Milford residents enjoyed a lovely Mother’s Day lunch with place settings set with pretty napkins as well as daffodils and chocolates for all. In the morning they were out picking the daffodils from our garden and these were all delivered around the home to supplement the other lovely bouquets that arrived. We also made sure that our gentleman were included as well! During the afternoon there were pamper sessions and we made sure that everyone was thoroughly spoiled.
Weekly Baking Session are a Favourite
We have started a series of weekly baking sessions which residents are thoroughly enjoying. There is nothing like spending the morning mixing batter, rolling it out and preparing with a cup of tea and plenty of chat and then sitting back and enjoying the results for afternoon tea! Recent delights have included a variety of sausage rolls, welsh cakes and upside down peach sponge and they have all been delicious - we can't wait to see what our cooks create next.
