Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our teams are trained to enrich the lives of residents through stimulating the mind, body and soul, and taking the time to learn about each person to ensure everyone receives support that adds enrichment to their life.

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Music for the Mind Choir.

We had a group from Verwood who meet up each month for "Music for the Mind". They invite anyone in the community who look after someone or live with memory concerns to be a part of their choir. We were delighted they were able to come and perform to us in the home where they sang a selection of Christmas Carols and songs.

We had a wonderful time and thank them all so much for coming to the home and entertaining us.

Christmas Light Switch On.

Lighting up time got a whole new meaning here at the home as the community came together to see the home’s Christmas lights switched on for the very first time this Christmas.

Staff and residents got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the community to come and join in with staff and residents who all gathered in the home’s bistro for the occasion. We had entertainment from wonderful singer Bee Chumley Vocalist who performed all the classic Christmas songs that had everyone singing and dancing along too.

The Christmas tree and all the lights looked amazing when our General Manager, Gemma Chalkley, flicked the switch for the big reveal.

Everyone had a lovely evening and here is to the start of the wonderful celebrations here in the home.

Christmas preparations in the home.

Staff and residents in the home, have been decking the halls, getting out the baubles and unravelling the fairy lights, ready for a whole host of Christmas celebrations.

Everyone has been busy creating table centres and garlands to make the home as festive as can be. The residents have also been crafting home-made decorations for the Christmas tree which they all helped to decorate, the tree is looking truly magnificent covered in beautiful Christmas lights, bows and baubles. This year we made an addition to our decorations and created a wonderful entrance for residents and their families to have as a photo backdrop and enjoy.

Christmas table centres

Some of the ladies in the home started to help with the decorations and made these lovely table decorations. They had fun choosing the greenery and ribbons to make their own design and we had the Christmas songs playing in the background to give that extra festive feel.

Who doesn't love a pizza! Residents at baking club were able to make their own pizzas with lots of great toppings to choose from and as you can see some were rather keen on the cheese!! Everyone then got to eat their pizzas for supper and were enjoyed by all.
