Activities at Moors Manor Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Jo Henderson

Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Jo Henderson and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Moors Manor.

I am looking forward to bringing my creative side to the home as I was previously a florist and baker and look forward to us making lots of lovely treats for us all to enjoy.

When at home Jo is a mother to two wonderful daughters and also a pet mum to labrador Marley.

I cannot wait to welcome our residents into their wonderful new home and help to bring smiles, joy and laughter to each day.

Minibus outing to Castlepoint Shopping Park

Residents enjoy their outings out on our minibus and this week it was a visit to Castlepoint Shopping Park for a shopping trip with Rita, June, Lynda and Kathy. The ladies enjoyed having a look around the shops and buying the items they wanted, June even had a little pamper when in Boots. We then finished off the outing with a cup of tea and cake at Marks and Spencer. Everyone all enjoyed being out together and look forward to doing this again soon.

Gin Tasting evening

Earlier in the week we had our Gin Tasting evening where we invited residents, their families and the wider community to all come along. What a lovely evening we had with entertainment from Bee Chumley Vocalist who sang a selection of songs which had us all singing along too. We had a selection of gins alcoholic and non-alcoholic and quite a few of the ladies said they couldn't tell the difference between them. We also had a selection of canapes which were prepared by the kitchen team which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

Visit from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs

We had the wonderful Peter from Helpful Hounds Assistance Dogs come to the home with their dog Raffi who made himself very comfortable in the home saying hello to everyone. So many of our residents used to have their own pets at home so to be able to have wonderful charities who bring in their animals for our residents to enjoy really does make their day.

We look forward to Raffi and Peter coming again to see us all soon.

Gardening club

Residents have enjoyed gardening club and really getting their sleeves rolled up. Marianne and Liz were pruning and dead heading flowers. Rita and Robert were picking more of the runner beans we had been growing, and Kathy, Veena and June were cutting up the runner beans ready for the Kitchen to use.

A real team effort by our residents to look after their garden.
