Activities at Mount House and Severn View

Our Activities team is a dedicated group whom strive to ensure that the residents of Mount House have a broad range of meaningful activities daily which reflect the needs, wants and interests of all our residents. From our larger events including Garden Parties in our spectacular grounds to birthday celebrations with live musical entertainment we always have a broad range of events to suit all of our wonderful residents. We also go on a number of outings throughout the year in and around Shropshire, many of which are linked to community organisations whom cater specifically for interests of the people we support.

Something we have always been passionate about here at The Mount is Music therapy and we offer a diverse musical programme of live music and entertainers throughout the year to suit all tastes. Food theme days and tasting afternoons, as well as regular Cookery classes and chair yoga are on offer as well as beauty therapy and massage.
We aim to consistently provide a high quality activities programme for all of our residents and ensure that regardless of limitations and circumstances each individual has the best possible experience within our home, through both a physical and mentally stimulating person-centred approach.

Life at Mount House and Severn View

We are now rated 'Good'!

We passed a recent Care Quality Commission inspection with an overall “Good” rating after being praised for a responsive, safe, effective, caring and well-led service.

The CQC inspected us on 3rd September 2019 (the report was released on 18th September 2019) and rated us as “Good” overall.

The report stated that “People received help and support from a kind and compassionate staff team with whom they had developed positive relationships.”

The report went on to say, “People received safe support with their medicines by trained and competent staff members”

Also highlighted in the report was “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems at The Mount & Severn View supported this practice.”

In celebration of the rating and to thank each member of the team for their contributions to the home, each team member was presented with £100 gift voucher in appreciation of their hard work.

Claire Cowper, General Manager, said: “We are delighted that our home was rated ‘Good’ overall following the CQC’s most recent inspection. The team at the Mount House & Severn View always strive to provide the best possible quality care for everyone who lives at the home.”

RAF Cosford , RAF Cosford

RAF Cosford

On 30th August 2019, Emma Darley, Jodie Driver from the Activities Team & Dave Pugh, Head of Maintenance visited RAF Cosford with our residents from the Mount House & Severn View.

During the visit, our residents enjoyed a lunch out, refreshments & touring around the museum.

This was also in aid of 'Make a Wish' for two of our gentlemen who wished to visit RAF Cosford again; one had never visited before and the other gentleman wanted to return after 30 years!

Name Day

Name Day

At the begining of August we celebrated Magda's Name Day!

Various countries have this practice to celebrate name days, with methods differing over cultures and religions. The timing at which a name is assigned can vary from some days after birth to several months or many years.

The concept of name days is similar to the more common birthday, except that the association of a name to a day is entirely arbitrary.

Name days (in Hungarian: névnap) are very popular, often as much as a person’s actual birth date. Hungarians not only have a birthday, but a name day as well. While birthdays are usually celebrated just in immediate family, name days are widely known and celebrated.

To celebrate Magda’s name day, she was gifted with a cake and a bouquet of flowers from all of the staff and residents at the Mount House & Severn View.

Cake Decorating

Cake Decorating

Residents at Mount House & Severn View showed off their arty side in July! Throughout July, we spent a lot of time focusing on daily living activities. We held a cake decorating competition & our residents spent time decorating cakes with help from the wonderful Scarlett, who came in to work with her mum Jodie to help our residents!
