Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Friendship Group supporting Dementia UK

Another fantastic friendship group today at Newton House, with residents meeting up with their friends and enjoying a game of dominoes and bendominoes.

We also celebrated “time for a cuppa” for Dementia UK with tea, coffee, cake & biscuits.

The fun and games finished with a Royal Family Quiz, which is one of their favourite subjects, and their knowledge was incredible with not one question answered incorrectly.

There is still plenty of time to purchase a raffle ticket for our “Time for a Cuppa” raffle, these can be purchased at our reception. We have some fantastic prizes, which we will post on Facebook tomorrow.

♥️Thank you to the amazing people who have donated these gifts for such a wonderful cause. ♥️

Newton House First Trip Out!

Newton House have finally been able to take their residents out in their minibus. The residents enjoyed a trip to local, Belvoir Castle, Dirty Duck and even got lucky enough to see some of our carers and their families.

It was so nice to be able to take the residents out in the minibus, as they waited for everyone to congregate in the reception area to wave them off all you could hear was laughter and chatter. It was so nice to feel like we are one step closer to normality.

Thank you to our fantastic activities team for taking our first few residents on a trip out, I am sure the next few residents are already lined up and ready to go!

Our Final Farewell to HRH Prince Philip

LOCAL CARE HOME RESIDENTS PAY THEIR RESPECTS TO THE PRINCE PHILIP, THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Newton House care home in Grantham paid their respects to the Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh on the day of his funeral, 17 April 2021.  The whole home came together to honour Prince Philip’s long and extraordinary life of service to the Queen, the British people and the Commonwealth over his 73 year marriage to the Queen, making him the longest-serving Consort to any British monarch.

Residents and staff watched the televised service that took place at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle and observed the minute’s silence in memory of the Duke.  After the ceremony, staff and residents discussed their memories of Prince Philip and the Queen and what the royal family has meant to them over the years.  They reminisced about royal tours and the Duke’s contribution to many different aspects of British life.

General Manager, Tina Fazackerley, said: “We all felt it was really important to mark this occasion.  Prince Philip achieved so much over his 99 years.  We wanted to come together and give thanks for his life and to celebrate his many achievements.

Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.

We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support. We’re making our homes as safe as possible and will ensure that all new residents and staff are vaccinated before moving in or working in our homes.  Please do give us a call on01476 578072 if you are looking for care or need any further help.
