Activities at North Park Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Claire Liddy

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi, my name is Claire, and I am Lead Activities Coordinator at North Park. I have 15 years’ experience in the role, three years at North Park and absolutely love my job. I like to involve the local community in events within the home, so we have connections with local churches, schools and community groups. We have a PAT dog that visits weekly, so our residents can enjoy pet therapy, and lots of external entertainers, who come into the home regularly as well; in addition to fairs, monthly coffee morning and so much more.

An afternoon of jazz

One of our past residents, Cliff, loved playing his guitar for all of our enjoyment.

After Cliff passed, residents really missed his Blues and Jazz music, however, as Cliff was well known around the clubs, some of his fellow musicians came along to treat residents with a Jazz afternoon. We were joined by Cliffs family and some of his friends and we had a fantastic afternoon of music, cocktails, cheeses and nibbles.

Resident Jessie stated this has been a marvellous afternoon, they are so talented, I love ‘real music’ it is food for the soul.

Royal Parks London

Across our services our residents have enjoyed a wonderful live virtual talk about starlings, one of the UK’s most gregarious birds, hosted by Rachel Dowse from The Royal Parks London.

Rachel examined our long history with this bird and the importance of common species to our lives. Our residents had the opportunity to find out more about the great murmuration and why we need to pay special attention to these beauties before it's too late.

The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.

Residents enjoy a buzzing afternoon

Residents and colleagues at North Park were buzzing when they celebrated all things bees with local bee keeper, Sheila Taylor.

Sheila visited the home to host an informative talk on all things bees and how their honey can make natural products such as wax melts, candles and balms.  Sheila’s talk also provided an insight to raising awareness of the importance of bees and beekeeping. Everyone enjoying this fascinating session.

Trip to Cleveland Club

Today some of our residents enjoyed a trip out to the Cleveland Club on Neasham Road for a buffet and game of bingo with John winning a tub of Roses. Thankfully, they were back in time to see 'Elvis' preform his Christmas show.

The magic of Christmas Day

We hope you all had as good a Christmas day as we have at North Park. It was lovely to see all the families coming in to see their loved ones since all restrictions of the past few years, the atmosphere was electric.  A special shout out to all staff on duty today and tonight for making our residents Christmas magical.

New Year's Eve celebrations

Residents and relatives enjoyed live entertainment as part of their New Years Eve celebrations. Residents enjoyed dancing and singing with refreshments as they saw the new year in.  Wishing everyone a very happy New Year.
